A person im working with is creating a site for a friend, and required flash help.

Being the person everyone and their dog turns to for anything regarding flash work, it was only natural he came to me, in the most basic form of begging.
He provided me the uncompressed PSD files and i was to create a website system for this seemlingly simple website.
So i spend my night making it, looks good to me, and i get hit back with some of the most bizzar feedback ever
"When it fades into the site, the links dont show up", im like "thats crazy, theres nothing preventing them from doing so"

Anyways, so a few tweaks here and there and im here to ask some people help me beta test.
Because ive tried this myself on various computer setups and i cant seem to see the problem, id like to get a more nationwide opinion in case lady luck is just on my side.

Please allow that to load (its near 700k uncompressed). If you see the header links (Home, Order Now!, About the Author, etc), well, mission complete i guess. Feel free to click on the one link that works at press time "Home" to load the homepage. (it will default to this once the site engine is polished).
Yes everything takes forever to load, that's actually intentional at this point. Smiley

So with that in mind, please for the love of god, hammer away at it. BREAK IT. MAKE IT CRY!!!

worked for me, word of advice would be to make the text "text" and not a graphic.  Maybe not though, might just be preference.  but my site is essentially a giant Jpeg and I hear a lot about how the text should be text.

THE POINT: It works Cheesy

As a web developer, I have to strongly recommend away from a completely-flash-based site. If people want to right-click, for example, they won't have any of those menu options. Search engines won't see any text, and people without flash won't be able to use the site. As well, 700K means more than five minutes of loading, if one is on dial-up, or at least a minute of waiting if they're on a slow 12KB/s connection. A 50KB file is talked about with caution, in the web development community.

Also, what browsers are you testing on? The major browsers are Internet Explorers 6 and 7, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera. The person getting the error could have been using an older version of flash, as well.

By the way, what ever happened with that? It says the topic is 120+ days old. Did you get it working?

Right some explanation haha

I did end up recreating the issue, it was a BROWSER incompatibility, with IE5.

Im not sure why he wanted it all Flash based, i told him HTML would have sufficed just as much, and be easier to edit. But nope.

The 700KB thing was intentional, i wanted to check out of flash how things behaved when the loading process happened.
After all was said and done, the website was a grand total of 150KBs.

I have since cut ties with LukeWarm (the guys who got me to do this) as i REALLY disapprove of the way they go about things, including extra work like this site.
I never got paid for it.
I never got recognition.
All i got in return for this was some ill advised actions toward me and alot of bad language.

Just overall, the project sucked.
