Islington Furmeet Update

Date: Saturday, November 8th, 2008
Location: 25 Mabelle Avenue, Etobicoke, Ontario
Web Site: http://www.furnation.com/toronto/furmeet/

Our chairperson, Ki Wind, who's hosting the meet asked me to put out a message again.

Last time we had 34 attendees. This time we have 49 registered and 71 maybes for a possible 119 attendees from every corner of Ontario and into Quebec and New York state.

There's a little over two weeks left.

Food
----

What we're looking for now is ideas on what to do for lunch and dinner and offers to bring food, snacks and drinks for everyone.

For Snacks right now we have Danruk bringing Popcorn, Black Mage Kitty bringing sunchips and cases of pop, and Sparrow bringing Potato Chips.

Danruk's also offered chili for dinner and Deoge has offered a few dozen large muffins.

Crosse Wolf is bringing 50 - 66 paper plates and maybe cups.

Last time, I went out and bought enough things to make sandwiches for everyone for lunch and that worked out fine, so I don't mind doing that again. I also did a few runs to pick up more cases of pop to make sure it didn't run out and I don't mind doing that again.

Last time for dinner, we did a collection and ordered chinese food.

Events
------

We're also looking for ideas for events and people to volunteer to run them.

We're currently looking to have a fursuiting performance workshop lead by Danny Dingo and Fursuit Games lead by Morgan. We've also had people propose a fursuit parade, DDR competition, and art jam.

We're thinking of leaving the third room open for anyone who wants to run an event.

Artist / Dealers
----------------

We'll have tables set up for those that want to sell things again. Last time, we had 4 people selling things or offering commissions and they did about $72 in sales altogether.

I've set up a page on the web site for artists who are attending to show samples of their work on, and one for dealers to show what they'll be selling.

Fursuiters
----------

Last time, we had 5 fursuiters. This time, we're looking at having 10, with some debuting new fursuits.

I set up a page on the site for fursuiters to put up pics of the suits they'll be bringing.

Games
-----

Last time, Richard K Niner brought a lot of games. I brought a cribbage board and had some fun playing that.

Richard has his own copy of Bang! this time. Smiley

Black Mage Kitty is bringing a Wii, PS3, and extra controlers and would like suggestions for games.

Ciello is bringing a deck fo Magic cards.

Sparrow is bringing a PSP, a Nintendo DS, and a Wiimote.

A/V
---

Bungee Skunk got a video projector from his old work he's offered to bring, so maybe we can set something up with that too.

Oh... and I forgot music.

Last time, we had Branwyn and Potoroo dj for us and they did an awesome job setting the mood for the meet, but they can't make it this time.

If anyone else wants to do something, that should be cool.

We won't be having any dances this time, but still could use music.

I won't be able to sit and play tracks for people, I can put together a playlist if people tell me what they want to hear. Smiley

Re: Islington Furmeet Update

Another little update.

First, everyone was asking what time the meet was, so I fixed that major oversight of not having the time on the web site. (12 pm to 1 am)

Sorry about that.

We've now become a 3 day event, kinda.

On Friday, there's going to be a dinner at the Swiss Challet at 362 Yonge Street at 8pm for some of the furs from out of town. Morgan's taking care of that and would like to know who's coming.

On Sunday, some of us will be visiting the Toronto Zoo. Don't have a time when everyone will show up exactly, but I'll volunteer my cell phone if needed to help people find each other: 647-836-5736.

Fursuit Parade is scheduled for 7:30.

And I'm going to work on having some badges ready too. Smiley
