Juuuust decided today what i'm getting as a new car.  After a few weeks of shopping and test driving, I've decided on a Mazda 6 Grand Touring Edition, fully loaded.  Here's a pic of a mazda 6 i found online for those unfamiliar with the car:

wee, this is one of my favorite threads when it pops up!  At the moment I have a 1995 Subaru WRX turbocharged rally-wagon, a twin-turbo 1993 Subaru Legacy GTB ( a glorified soccer mom car that does 250kph lol ) a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR 750 H1, also known as the Ninja, an '89 Honda Civic hatchback for tootling about town, and a 1988 Honda Spada 250cc road bike for when I really really don't want to waste money on gas lol.  I collect these things when they're blown up, and re-build them to brand new spec. Cheap way to get crazy cars. the WRX cost me $850 to buy, and I could even drive it home. lol  But they all get the star treatment, even the Civic - check out that engine bay, it amuses me that it looks like that after 19 years.  Perhaps I'm taking the notion of "preventative maintenance" a bit too far. lol
crazy stuff you got there, my mom got a legacy(that me and my bro used to drift a lot in parkings on winter Lookaround) but it's automatic, 4wd but unpowerfull, I think it's even slower than my 1st car, a 1.6L mazda 323 1994(witch had 82hp xP)

do you had a lot of cars in the past or you just keep them when they're rebuilted?

yar,
Legacys are heavy cars, unfortunately, so it really takes a lot of engine to get them to do interesting things - even with the twin turbo mine's a bit of a slug compared to the WRX.  The auto transmissions take a hell of a thrashing though, if you just use the low gear options you can pull off pretty much anything ( or so I  have been lately lol ) My previous car ownership isn't too numerous - I try to buy things that I think are notable, like my old 1982 Datsun 1200, but once I've done everything I can think and afford to do, I sell them on and use the cash to do something else again.  The two Subarus are up for sale at the moment, even.  Now I have to think of what to do next. XD

I know my ride doesn't have a whole lot of guts, just enough to get me into trouble  Tongue (Think doing 210km/h in a 100km/h zone) About the only problem with the old Maxima is that she's got 225hp, and FWD, so you get a touch of torque-steer when piloting her through the twisties  Smiley

a Datsun sounds interesting to me, I'm pretty much in old school cars(thought the oldest car I had was a 1989 toyota cressida... with blown head gasket... and radiator... and rusty... and...) does a twin turbo legacy stay reliable? subaru is generally having problem with front axelshafts(even if you don't drift with it Lookaround)

Front axleshafts eh? I can't say I've encountered any major drive-train problems at all, other than normal wear and tear issues. Then again, I'm not into the drift scene on a regular basis.  The engines, however, seem to like to blow head gaskets like teenage girl blow bubblegum, crack pistons, and melt the big end bearings - but that's when people are really giving the engine hell. They're not bulletproof like some cars, but if maintained seem to make it well into the 250 000km range before being written off, in my experience.  Only problem is they're expensive to have work done, a lot of the time, due to the orientation of the engine - everything is hard to reach, and labor costs tend to exceed a lot of other popular cars for similar jobs.  Parts differ in price with country, too. Cheap as chips over here in New Zealand at the moment.  The bodies are great, though, I have never found one with a real rust problem from the mid 90's onwards.
