Welcome to the furry.ca forum!

The furry.ca forum is a bulletin board system intended as a communication hub for fans of anthropomorphised animals and their related kin, specifically those that reside within the nation of Canada. The forum welcomes all who wish to discuss matters pertaining to the furry fandom and Canadian culture, regardless of nationality, species, sexuality, or creed. We welcome members from any and all nations of The World.

Naturally, like any organisation, we must adhere to a set of rules and regulations set forth in order to keep the peace and prevent the fur from flying. In a similar vein, the quality of conversation on this forum must be maintained. The following is a simple set of guidelines agreed upon by the staff of the furry.ca forum, to be adhered to by all members alike and appropriately enforced by the staff and administration.

The rules:

1. Stay on topic. The primary theme for this is, of course, furry. It includes a heavy slant to Canadian culture as this forum's residents are primarily Canadian in nationality. Topics upon this forum will essentially fall under these themes and should stay that way for their duration. While some discussions may evolve into other related topics, it is preferred that idle chatter be done in other media, such as instant messengers, IRC, and the like. Topics to steer away from would be most anything that's of little to no interest of Canadian furry fans as a whole, including rants that pertain to personal drama or simple updates on day-to-day life. If you must update friends on such things, there are journaling services available elsewhere which will better suit your needs.

2. No spam. Tying into the rule of keeping things on topic, it is necessary to refrain from creating posts of little to no value to the discussions at hand. Avoid brief responses to topics, such as simply stating nothing more than "Yay!" or "LOL". Posts such as these generally offer minimal input to a discussion and can be perceived as a nuisance by other members. Likewise, "game" threads, such as word games and random roleplaying are not welcome.

3. No roleplaying. While the occasional posing of actions is welcome in a thread in order to help communicate your point, it is not permitted to go into detailed roleplaying that is irrelevant to a thread. Again, this ties into keeping things on topic and being effective in one's communication.

4. Cruising is not permitted. To put it bluntly, furry.ca is not a meat market. This is not a service at which to attempt to pick up a potential date, mate, or what-have-you. Making passes at fellow users can be perceived as a form of sexual harassment and may make other users uncomfortable, so this behavior is strictly frowned upon for these reasons.

5. Absolutely no flaming or trolling. Personal attacks on fellow users at this site are strictly prohibited. There will be little to no tolerance for anyone seeking to attack a user or to incite a public argument upon these forums.

6. Keep criticism constructive and be prepared to take it. In the event that you post your work in the creatively-oriented forums upon the site, please be prepared to receive criticism. If you give a critique on someone's artwork, be sure that you make it constructive in nature. For example, if you feel that someone's work needs a great deal of improvement, it is far more helpful to suggest ways in which that work could be improved upon instead of simply stating that it needs a lot of work.
If you post your work and wish that the other members of the site do not offer criticism, please note that in your post while submitting your artwork. Otherwise, it is generally assumed that you are open for a critique upon your work.

7. Images in signatures must be of reasonable size. All images combined within a signature, must not total any more than 468 pixels in width nor 60 pixels in height. These dimensions represent a standard banner size commonly found throughout the internet. Any signatures that contain an image or group of images which exceed this limitation can and will be edited by the administration.

8. Advertising. Advertising of and recruiting for furry community sites or forums that may be deemed to be in competition with the furry.ca forum is strictly prohibited. Any offending links will be removed by the administration.

9. Content rating. If we were to give this forum an expected rating on a scale compared to what one would see in a movie theatre, the rating here would be considered PG-13. This is a publicly visible forum and the behavior, language, and creative content should be conducted in a manner that would be considered appropriate for most any public venue. There is, however, an adult forum that is hidden from public view. Members that are 18 years of age or older may request access to this particular forum via PM, e-mail, or IM to Benjamin. All members who wish to have access to that forum must keep their accurate age displayed in their respective profile.

10. Have fun! That's what this forum is here for, after all! Cheesy

If rules are broken, the offending user can expect a warning and/or action of some sort from the staff, in whatever fashion is deemed appropriate. It will likely come by private message, e-mail, or in some less serious cases, as part of a thread in which the offense is found. The warning depends upon the nature of the offense commited. Subsequent, unheeded warnings can and will lead to banishment from the furry.ca forum and it's related services. In extreme cases, banishment may occur without prior warning or subsequent notice.
Warnings may be issued by any member of the furry.ca staff, however actions of banishment fall under the final discretion of the administration alone.

 Lookaround

So those are the rules! We try to keep things simple so that everyone can have a good time here. We do, naturally, feel the need and responsibility to let everyone know that we have our rules of conduct. They're deemed necessary, not to limit the conversations to be had here at the furry.ca forum, but to protect those that are here in order to have fun while respecting the other users that are here for the same. Smiley

Oh, and one final rule... no peeing on the new carpet. Wink

In regards to signatures, I ask that anyone with a sig that exceeds the stated rule on their graphic size edit their signature as soon as possible. If the excessively sized graphics are not edited out by Friday, May 9, 2008, I shall delete the signature myself.
Just giving y'all fair warning! Cheesy

I have remembered an old rule we had in regards to advertising of competing forums on this board here. I have added that to the rules above, currently as rule #8. This had become a significant problem in the past, but I would hope it doesn't have to become an issue once again anytime soon.

A quick addition has been made in regards to the rating of the forum. No, it's not been a big issue lately, but it's something that should be added just for argument's sake. Heheh. Smiley

Enjoy the forum!
