The first thing to notice on this one is that those feet are damned sexy. The wing-claws are fantastic as well; is he part cyborg or is that just the appearance of his wings?
There's a bit of trouble discerning the edge of the boat from the sky, but it may just be the design of the ship itself.
There's a great amount of detail in the clothing; keeps one's eyes very busy. I can't help but notice the design of the sword hilt; very easy on the eyes.
Is this going to end up being a coloured work?
Great stuff. Always happy to take a look at your work; you've got some very smooth lines and an eye for detail.
Cheers, -Lady Serpent

Thank you for being one who takes interest in an artist's work, Lady Serpent.
The story behind Draken is that he had his wings removed due to an accident, as he grew up being raised by a rough crowd, and got mechanical ones grafted to his spine and along his back.
This is still in the process of being coloured

This was a project at the college to make anthros! Best project ever. I referenced a flying fox muscle and bone structure for this. Here he is, a neurotic bat.

A character whom i also consider an old friend. I used to role play as KyJin Bloodbane, in an online forum based RP called Alleria. Dracons have poisonous blood, and he dabbles in the dark arts, but that doesn't mean he shies away from the occasional hug! Aaand this is the preliminary sketch i did before doing the one above.

Your artwork is gorgeous. Some of the examples you've posted are also extremely busy but I really think that's part of their charm. I could stare at them for hours.

Thank you for the comments, Drakonus and happy.knot. I am a bit of a detail whore, but i've been experimenting with more cartoony characters in my sketchbook, and it's a lot of fun getting that 'cute' and exaggerated look ^^ I finally finished the commission

My submission to Ladyserpent's Dark Stalker contest. I was having fun playing around with the digital wet ink brushes and the various air brushes. http://ladyserpent.deviantart.com/ Check it out if you haven't yet, and try your hand at drawing the DS!

Thanks Shnell! I usually lurk around conceptart.org, and they have an excellent sketchbook section. If you are interested you should check those artists out too!

I try to build up hierarchy when doing an image, for this one I want the attention to first be drawn to the eyes and the face, then to the wings.
Thanks!

As I mentioned earlier, that version of the Darkstalker is wonderfully effective! I'm very glad you entered it.
Oh, how I wish I had more time lately to respond to things like this. Your work here is quite phenomenal, especially in the various textures you create.
The KyJin piece shows effective use of light and dark gradients to show the lighting of the piece. That's one thing that doesn't seem to be extremely apparent in the rest of your work (the contrasts between well-lit areas and darker, shaded areas), but the lineart style, bright colour schemes, and intricate detail more than compensate for this slight deviation from lighting technique. Indeed, it seems that you excel in making your forms show up magnificently in all of their detail, and heavy shading would seem to almost take away from the way you make the linework and colouring look so good together.
You do very smooth, interesting work, and it's a pleasure to look at. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, -Lady Serpent

It's no problem that you don't have as much time, we all have lives away from the computer screen!
The pen and ink style is one I used to avoid, but since taking design in school, I went on a binge of just 'designerly' drawings. Though lately that's been making me go cross eyed, and I have learned I prefer to work as I've done in the past, like with that KyJin pic, and to let the visual instinct take over a bit more. For the illustrative style, sketching messily keeps us free.
Keep working hard at your finals!

I just dont know how to do propper line art. Im sure I could be good at it bu even after that I still seem to be lacking in the coloring area too. *sigh* Its good work, all of it isnt my cup of tea but I really like the details in them. How long does it take you to make a work and how long to make one and color it?

Blue Woof I don't really keep track of how long something takes, I just draw and re-draw it until it looks acceptable. If you are wanting to get better, my best piece of advice would be to keep a sketchbook, and draw everything. Try several really quick scribble drawings, just getting basic shapes down, and work your way up to more refined sketches for some of them. I found the longer time you spend looking back and forth between RL objects and your drawing, drawing shapes you see that relate to one another, the more accurate your representations can become. Photo reference also helps
