It was started by Silfur around 1998 and then managed by Benjamin for a number of years before being closed for about a year while he searched for someone else to take over. I resurected it around 2006 and have expanded it to include all of Ontario.

Due to the contributions furries across the province, it now includes the largest directory of furries in the country and has helped build up new furry communities across the province and helped a lot of furs find new friends and even mates.

I had a few people suggest renaming it to show that it's not only for Ontario.

I was thinking either, "Ontario Furries," "Ontario Furs," or, "Ontario Furry."

I've been talking with a few furs about it and, "Ontario Furries," seems to be the most popular so far. It's the least likely to be misunderstood for something else or be confused for something else in searches.

Considering it's a community site that hundreds of furries are contributing too that's been running for over a decade, I want to see what the community thinks about making such a change to the site before going ahead with it.

Other suggestions are perfectly welcome as well. Everything on there's been put together through the colaboration of the Ontario Furries.

Perhaps even if you'd keep the Toronto furry site on a much smaller scale, like a home page specifically for the e-mail list information... then have the Ontario furries site like a seperate site for listing the contact information of the region? Otherwise, it seems like the Toronto furry site would be getting phased out, when it still seems rather necessary to a degree.

Well, there's the Torfur site that Karma maintains. - www.torfur.com - When I decided to move here, I googled Toronto Furry and that's what I found.

I figure this is a good change. The names of the sites make it seem like a duplicate effort, but after asking questions around, I've noticed that Dan has been focusing in of Ontario as a whole for a while, so it's not really duplicate effort, and making it clear in the name helps a lot attracting the right people to the site.

Yeah, that's a good point. Not much sense in having two different web sites representing the same group of furries. That has happened in some other locales, but if it'd be preferable to prevent that here...

Well, I think it started as a home page for the mailing list info.

That page is still there nearly unchanged in the last 4 years:
http://www.furnation.com/toronto/emaillists.html

I don't see any reason to stop hosting that page even with a name change, but it does seem to have expanded well beyond that purpose.

And there's certainly still a page listing Toronto Furries still:
http://www.furnation.com/toronto/members/cities/Toronto.html

It was around long before torfur.com was started. We actually almost moved everything over to torfur.com for the very reason of not having two, but then Karma shut it down for a while then put it back up as a personal site and didn't want to work together.

Quite frankly... Whatever works for you, eh. When the day's done, it's still your site. Wink

Up to me in the end, yeah.

Though I like to try and be responsible to the users.
