Alright, perhaps some of you know by now that I'm pretty intense when it comes to beer. I propose a beer exchange. You west coasters and Ontarians send us some of your best microbrew bottles, and we'll reciprocate. No, you won't get a parcel full of Keith's. And I'd especially love some Quebec furs to send some Unibroue our way. Not to mention I have some fond memories of the local Victoria, BC brews... and I would actually murder people to be able to taste Walkerville again. It's not fair that I can't even drink beer from my hometown. So! Providing cargo inspectors don't drain these packages to make sure they aren't bombs... who'd want to be in on something like this?

There's a fantastic little microbrewery in Moncton called Pumphouse, and they make a brilliant assortment. But sadly, they don't export it very far. =( Anyway, I'm not sure how this sorta thing would work. I mean, you say us, but... who gets all the beer? c.c Mebbe if there was some kinda 'meet going on, but otherwise the logistics might prove prohibitive.

The logistics are going to be a pain in the ass, to be honest. Canada Post and most other mailing corporations prohibits intoxicating beverages for transportation, namely because they're a dangerous good, not because they're illegal. If you ship a few boxes of alcohol on one of Canada Posts' trucks and it gets in an accident, alcohol is flammable. That said, the whole thing is likely to go up in flames. Regardless, some microbreweries export, but they tend to not export very far being, well, microbreweries. I myself just like a bottle of Heineken when I'm feeling like a beer. Can't say that I drink much else anyways.

I am pretty certain that beer's not really flammable. Not high enough alcohol content!
Though I don't know whether or not Canada Post would ship it, regardless.

Actually, you're right. Beer is not flammable, so my reasoning isn't as sound as I thought it was. Canada Post specifically bans the shipment of alcohol in general, so I guess it doesn't matter. They ban the shipment of a lot of things, actually, and it's not too hard to find what those things are on their site.

Pumphouse beers are available here in Georgetown and in different beer stores around the greater Toronto area, incase anyone is interested in them.

Transportation of alcohol in general is a pain. When my family moved from Ottawa out to the West Coast, we had to leave all our liquor behind because the moving company told us it was against transport regulations to ship it. We had a whole box full of cool stuff. We ended up giving it to our neighbors as a going away gift. *grrr*
Now that said, if you've got your own U-Haul, I'm sure you could get away with it. I like the idea though; to swap beers from different parts of Canada. We've got a couple breweries here you need to try; Longwood and Fat Cat to name a couple.
And Wally, that's what the trunk is for. *grins* I'm sure unless you're crossing into the States you wouldn't get in trouble for having alcohol in your trunk (as long as you weren't feeling the effects of said alcohol either).

Any Calgary furs had Wild Rose's stuff? Velvet Fog ranks among my absolute favourite beer, and their IPA is the hoppiest I've ever tasted. It's like chewing aluminum foil.
