I'm currently serving Active Duty in the US Navy as a US Submariner, and it is way more awesome than I ever could have imagined it.  TONS of work (essentially you don't STOP working), but well worth it.  It's the only job where I get paid to Bullshit with my friends one second, and the next second be doing an evolution that depends on everyone on board to do their job at 150% in order to stay alive.  and yes, there are plenty of furs in the navy X3  I was suprised, but in the best way possible.

My co-author and research associate served on the USS Cowpens, USS JFK and quite a few other vessels.  He did twelve tours, and he's now a SPAWAR FSET.
  He's based out of both Norfolk and Mayport, and I'm down there to visit him a couple of times a year, and he's also a fellow fur.
