Well, my grandparents had two rough collies. One died, sadly...
In my opinion, I view them as family members, although I think I'd view them as my children if I took care of them every day and such. The most I've done with them was go out on walks with them and such.

I have an aquarium with guppies, an apple snail and two cory cats. I don't view them as family members or children but they aren't just moving decorations to me either. They are kind of like... growing precious plants - you know their potential to be amazing and beautiful so you spend a lot of time, effort and money giving them the ideal conditions. The reward is seeing them thrive.
They delight me even if my relationship to them sounds cold.

I don't have any pets, but when I do, I think of them as family. Like in the case of having to put down a cat a bit over a year ago... it was probably one of the toughest decisions that I ever had to be a part of. Benjamin

While I haven't actually owned any pets of my own, I definitely had a close relationship with the family pets when I still lived with my parents. It's difficult for me to accurately describe my relationship with them. I didn't feel the same way toward them as I did toward my actual younger brother, and I didn't consider them to be children (although, my mom did), but they were definitely family. It's so odd returning "home" to visit my parents now, since both the border collie I had known for 13 years and the cat I known for 10 passed away after I moved out. Currently, I'm not allowed any pets because of where I live, but I'm hoping to adopt a dog or cat the next time I move.

I don't really see my dogs as family members nor do I see them as my kids. To me they are very close friends, faithful companions that follow at my heels as I wander the road of life.
Malamutes are interesting dogs, very vocal, very stubborn, and very social and my two are quite typical in that regard. The three of us are a 'pack' for lack of a better term and it's hard to imagine life without them around.

*hides under a table* urm >> well.. i am pan sexual.. but i do have a mate. Before i found my luv, well i was seriously thinking of haveing a dog as a umm ,well you get the picture... and the term for that would be "zoophile" not "beastialty" beastialty is forced sex with the animal who does not want it... and zoophile is actually treating the animal as your partner and mate >> anyways... "pg" i don't wanna be scarring too many minds here.. I think of pets as hmm... well family or other people ^^ i find myself greeting the pets first, rather then the people XD when im walking down the street. Buuut yeah, i couldn't imagine haveing any one else as my mate... I love my AlanTabby <3 hehe~

Benjamin I know its so hard there 2 male cats have died to..the last one I held him in my arms when he was put down. His name was Jesse he looked like a tiger I have all my cats cremated...as their spirits are in the house & outside in the garden watching over the other cats ..I feel for you ....its so hard to do it..

I look at them like a little bro or sis, because they are definitly family, just the kind that you have to clean up after and chase around every once in a while. I live with......12........cats, not entirely my choice, mine would be two. We used to have MANY more cats, three dogs, two hamsters and a fish, but they eventually died off and blah blah....The bad thing here is once the cats here get preggers there's no way the kittens get given away, just like family you can't give away siblings, my parents are adament about that. We also bring in strays from time to time, but the last one in was one I found and she is uFcking NUTS, but I love her anyway. She had it rough. No more strays though. So yeah, like little annoying sisters and brothers that ignore everything you say and do, unless it involves food, but loveable nonetheless.

If you have someplace to host the image, it'd probably be fine from there. How big is the image, anyways? Benjamin

The ultimate crazy cat guy can actually be found in Ottawa, on Parliament Hill! Have any of the Ottawa furs on the board (or others, who may have visited Ottawa), ever taken the time to visit the cat sanctuary behind parliament hill? That's probably one of the most interesting things to see there, and I spent some time talking to the old guy, who takes care of all those stray cats.

What!?! And to think I wasted all that time in the war museum, and watching the parliament building light show.
