EDIT: The links provided below may lead to adult content, you have been advised.

Hi folks.

About a week or two from now an exciting merger is going to be announced between Yiffy.Tk and another long-running furry portal. I've been giving it consideration for a long time and I feel the best next step is to introduce localisation. With the addition of Ychan we have seen our European and Latin American audience grow exponentially, and there is a large and rapidly expanding non-anglophone furry community with a disproportionately small number of venues catering to it.

I intend on loading all of the static content into language files, like page descriptions and common error messages which should be relatively easy for anyone who is bilingual to translate. Before I do this I need to secure a couple volunteers, because this is going to mean a lot of work for me and I can't afford to do it if no one's going to help; I am after all hopelessly English-tongued Wink

The first language I would like to implement is Canadian French, as that's the only other one I know more than a dozen words in and I can follow along on the first round Wink Now I need A Few Good Francophones with just a little spare time and that famous passion for cultural proliferation to help me out! Any takers?

I should also note that we're going to need bilingual moderators too. Be sure to check out the site and see if it's the kind of joint that suits your idle time!

Thank you for your consideration! ^.^

I'd volunteer, but I'd actually need to take time to brush up on my Canadian French. >.>

It's been a few years. :3

So the first steps have been taken and language files have been semi-implemented. I even went ahead and bought yiffy.ca Cheesy

Now I need to round up some volunteers to translate files that look like this: http://yiffy.tk/linguas/en_CA.txt

I'd really appreciate it if those fluent in french could drop me a line if interested ^.^

Mm, I'd help if I was better in French.  Mabye try PM'ing some of the francophone users here?

On another note, I typed in 'fox' to the link in your sig (furfinder.net), and it came up blank.  ..I think it's broken.  Ugh

Cheers,
-Lady S.

you should ask help on the monfur http://groups.yahoo.com/group/monfur/

since you need french Canadian for help, not just translate a few word in french.

here a few correction: $lingua['sponsors'] = "Sponsors"; the right word in french is : Parrainer

$lingua['referrer'] = "O avez vous dcouvert Yiffy International?"; they mistace the word with references, so the right word is arbitrage or arbitrer
