Called “necomimi”, the ears are mounted on a headband containing sensors, which pick up brain activity and move the ears accordingly. As the wearer concentrates, the ears point upwards, and when they relax the ears flop down and forwards.

I think that, more so than making them sleeker (which, I agree, should happen) they need to work on the mount for the ears. I'd be worried about stability and comfort first, then style.

Style-wise, they look (to me) to be too far apart, and need a more graduated base so that it blends with the head better. Those are relatively minor aesthetic details though, and easily remedied.
