I am a pretty crafty person by nature, though I haven't done much in the way of sculpting. Late last year, I found a new kind of ultra-light clay, and tried my hand at making a sculpture. I ended up making a figurine of Tj's fursona, to give to him at Christmas. Early this year, I made one for myself, and now, Tj has commissioned me to make him another, and I am teaching him to sculpt using the ultra-light clay.

He has also been bugging me to post some pictures on here of the work I have done. So, here goes.

Also, on another note, I had forgotten how much I truely loathe photobucket.

So, first things first. Enjoy!

Full body shot of Tj's figurine

A couple of close ups on the figurine I did of my fursona

Just her face

From the side

From the back

Close up on the back pocket details

More pictures will go up soon, of the ones we are working on now as well as another one I am making for myself.

Ps - Had to modify because photobucket wants my soul and keeps telling me that the pictures I just uploaded have been "removed by owner", so I had to take out a couple of broken links.

These look excellent!  I love what you've done with the hair.

Would you be interested in a trade of some kind?  I'm attempting not to spend ANY unnecessary money over the next six months, but I'd be more than happy to do you a full colour painting (or two, even) if you'd want to create a sculpey Seph.  I'd prefer to do two if you're up for a trade, since then you can have two options.  (And I can feel like what I'm offering for trade is adequate to such neat sculptures.)

If you'd be into it, I can send you a raptor-dhole fursona sketch to work off.  If you'd rather, I could do you a painting and a ruby-tail based on the colours you have there.  I have fairly close to the right orange already, and of course lots of white and black.

I love what you've done with the little chain and key.  Just gorgeous.  Great job on the pants, too.

I feel your pain about photobucket.  Smiley

Really lovely stuff!  I remember seeing something you'd made before, but I must have somehow forgotten that you do this kind of thing.

Kapitan, Puma and Handa ~ Ta muchly guys, glad you like them. ^.^

Lady Seph ~ I would most assuredly be interested in a trade, for whatever of your artwork you think would be fair value in return. At your earliest convenience you can make up a detailed sketch of what you are interested in and send it to my email adress. As long as you do a front view and a side view for face and body, I should be able to replicate it fairly well.

It will be a week or two before I can start on this, though, as I am currently working on two already. ^.~

*Purrs*

I'm definitely in no rush; my own time up here is pretty busy.  I'd love to get you together a reference pic, though, as I honestly don't even think I have any of myself at this point.

Looking forward to it.  I'd actually prefer to do two art pieces as opposed to an art piece and a tail, as tails can take a lot more time, which I don't have a lot of lately.  However, I can do either; it's up to you what you prefer.  Smiley

As far as art goes, it is, of course, full colour, and whatever you'd like.  (As many characters as you want, or whatever you think you might want to have as artwork.)  It'll be detailed and probably larger than 8.5x11 if you're into that, just because I have larger paper to work with lately.  Basically, whatever you like.  Smiley

Looking forward to seeing the ones you're making now.

I hope you've been well; I'll actually get on and send you something of an update over the next few weeks; just winding down from midterms.  (2 more this week, then the weekend should be a *bit* freer.  I really need to stop volunteering and all that extra stuff.)

Cheers;

Glad to see you posted your work, Ruby! Your gift at Christmas this year will be cherished for a long time! Really neat to be able to see your fursona as a figure. :3

Ruby has been kind enough to help me start sculpting, and she asked me to post up some pics of mine, so here they be!

Will hopefully have finished pics up by the end of the week! Thanks again Ruby, you rock!

Alright, so I think I'm pretty much done the one Ruby has been teaching me to make. I noticed a few spots that were missed in the pics and patched them up, but I think its pretty good for my first attempt. I found the painting to be much harder then the sculpting, but paintbrushes just don't agree with me I guess. XD

I decided to go with the bikini for two reasons:

1. It would provide a good chance to try and sculpt the natural form without having to do a nude figure.
2. Vixen in a bikini... Need I say more?

I can say I failed at trying to get a natural figure, it was a lot harder then I thought it would be, so methinks my next ones will all be fully clothed so I can cheat. X3

Anyways, Thanks for taking a look, and big thanks to Ruby for taking the time to teach me how to do this, I hope we can continue to make these figures together! :3

That looks excellent!  Great pose, feet, and general anatomy.  The expression is fun, too.  You also did a really beautiful job on the swishing hair.

If you were to do another female, I'd suggest focusing a bit more on the upper legs to make them more 'shapely', and maybe incorporating some of that curvature into the hips.  The black bikini works well.

What kind of clay are you guys using for this?  Do they have armatures in them?

For painting, if you added a bit of fur highlights with a lighter or darker colour, it may make the whole thing that much more 'realistic' and striking.  Just on certain areas, like the bridge of the nose, down the back, down the shoulders and upper arms, and on the thighs of the legs going down past the knees.  Just little swishes of paint that give the illusion of darker and lighter fur tones.  Just one tone would be all you'd need.  The paint overall looks really good; you did a pretty swell job especially for not having done much of this before.

There are no way those are natural.  Wink

Lady Seph ~

Great, now I have to figure out what I'd like in the art; that's probably going to be harder for me than any of the aspects of sculpting and painting put together! XD  Whatever size you feel like doing will be just dandy for me. I'll probably start on your figurine when you send that ref sheet my way, but I will be keeping in contact with you throughout the sculpting process, just to make sure that it is being done to your specifications. ^.~

I've been alright, my health is kinda like a roller coaster at the moment, ups and downs and lots of screaming. XD

Ah yes, midterms. Lovely. >.<

T3hSmashfur ~ Ta muchly. ^^

Tj ~ Looks good. I'll take a look at it in person next time I see you, just so I can get a closer look. (Because I'm nosy. XD) Also, your commission is almost complete. I have a couple of small touch ups to do, and then she will be ready to go.

I will be posting pictures of the two newest ones up here in the next couple of days, as soon as I can find my camera.

Mm, I'd better get on finishing a reference picture, then.  Just need to finish a few other pieces first; hopefully this week will bring me a bit closer to being on top of it all.

Sorry for sounding insensitive earlier by not replying to this; I did see it and want to comment, but I wasn't sure what to say at the time, so I replied in a rush and then forgot to come back.

I hope things are able to get worked out; health is a pretty important thing to have.  (I certainly know how it goes.. O_o)

Nah, not insensitive, just busy.

In regards to my health....-shrugs-....I just take it one day at a time, and keep on keepin' on. S'all I can do, right? Stiff upper lip and all that.  Smiley

As per Ruby's request, I took some snapshots of the figurine I commissioned from her and I'm going to take this opportunity to tell her again how happy I am with it! :3

Her name is Mira, and has often been the voice of reason in Tj's crazy exploits and adventures. She is the female counterpart to the Tj persona, and I've often thought of her as an extension of my own personality much like Tj, just at the other end of the spectrum. Needless to say, I think they both compliment each other nicely. :3

Thanks again Ruby, you rock! :3

I'm glad you are happy with it, Tj. Thank you for putting up the pictures, I hadn't gotten around to doing it myself. ^.~

Also....dammit! In that second picture, I can see some parts of the hair that I missed with the purple. >.<

I was working on a Krystal figurine and my cat ripped the head off and stole it, and now I can't find the damn thing...

Just thought I'd share that... :3
