I use an hp dv4 pavillion and I have had it for about a year and a half. Lately, every two or three days, my computer randomly BSODs and crashes. I've had troubles with the computer running too hot (I think it's gotten up to an internal temperature of 83 degreed celsius on a bad day), but the computer crashes when it isn't running hot. I've checked for viruses and replaced the RAM in case it was bad, but nothing seems to work. I'm speculating that the heat paste has dried out, but the problem with this model is that the internal frame is one molded piece of plastic, so I can't get to the motherboard. >.< Any way I can prolong the life of my laptop?

Blow out any dust within the casing. You'll need canned air. Just find all the cracks and holes and blow.

You may or may not be able to underclock your laptop. That should help it run cooler.

Put on a jacket and go outside. Only use it during winter.

its a laptop and many dont last long, since they are used everyday but they aren't really made for that, which is odd cuz they should be, most only last more then 1-2 if your lucky.

sounds more like faulty product (HP and Dell are bother famous failures at laptops <and Compaq which is owned by HP>) more than anything else, hope you got a warranty because if you didn't you may be screwed Lookaround one of the main reasons I don't have a laptop (yet) is because of all the faults that come with them and that they're a billion times harder to fix/replace parts as they're all prefabricated pieces of garbage that companies charge way way too much for considering how cheap each part costs them, if you find you can't fix it I'd highly recommend an ASUS, Lenovo (spelling?), or if you're strapped for cash, an Acer is okay too just do a bit of research on the model first.

is this why you haven't been on msn lately? or did you block me like almost everyone else I've added from Furry.ca Lookaround whichever it is good luck with the lappie, hope it lives.

I tihnk laptops should be replaed every 2-3 years anyway, some are just faulty however and if your under warrenty you could get it fixed for free.
