I have to say I love books, and always enjoy a good Fantasy novel. My favourite Aurthor is Jules Verne (He's more Sci-fi nowadays) But his books are wonderful. I have only so far read 5 out of his Collection But I got every Book he made so I plan to read them all. Well I'll give out a shout about the newest book I just finished reading as well. The Gaslight Dogs. It is very well writen and has a unique story line. About a little Aniw girl from the north and her Dog. She gets pulled out of her home and brought to the sourthern lands were she teams up with a Captian in the Army there and tries to escape. It was a wonderful book and a change of pace from other Fantasy books. The ending wasn't the best, but I hope it just means there will be a Sequal soon. 4/5 Mainly becuase It took a while to move out of certian scenes. Certianly check it out if you like Fantasy books, and definetly check it out if you don't like fantasy

I LOVE books!!! Currently I am reading the Earth Children Series by Jean M. Auel This series is amazing. It is my top favorite; I own all 5 of the books, and have hd to replace the worn copies on occasion because I read them until they fall apart. Her incredibly detailed descriptions and connectable characters make it so that I can never get bored of reading her books.
What book are you on?

I'm picking my way through a rather interesting piece by Gary Zukav called "The Seat of the Soul". Quite fascinating. Also working on "Sarum" by Edward Rutherfurd.

I read the Earth Children series about ten years ago... wow. A lot of those books still sticks with me, what powerful stories. I'm impressed that they're still making the same impact today as they did then. I didn't realize a sixth book was planned, I'm glad this thread brought that to my attention. I haven't had a decent book to read in a while. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Uplift Series by David Brin - one of the most intelligent novels I've read concerning the evolution of species and the winner of many awards. Good solid Sci Fi with talking dolphins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Startide_Rising

I feel bad that I have missed out on this series you're talking about. (mayb I'll look into it *looks over at Book selves* when I catch up...)
I reading right now "A Short History of Progress" by Ronald Wright. It's a good book that talks about the evolution of Human Culture, Civilization, And what to look out for. I Highly Suggest it to anyone!

I'm pretty fond of David Clement Davies, especially with his series The Sight, though I'd have to say my all time favorite author of all time is Paul Galico, who wrote a short story that I studied back in high school called The Doll and I've since read some of his other works like The Abandoned and The Snow Goose. His work is certainly something I would recommended for those looking to try something new. :3
I'm currently looking for a copy of Watership Down, because I keep hearing so much about it. Saw the movie a long time ago, though I don't quite recall it and I'm sure the book would be better. :)l,

Omg watership down!!! I love that movie and I read the book not so long ago. That movie always had a way to scare me and also move me in a way that I almost cry. The bright eyes song is so powerful. My sister and I owned wild-caught rabbits we named fiver and hazel *smiles*
My favorite book series would be the legend of Drizzt. I think it has a good 19 books now. Good ol fantasy hehe
My fav book of all time would be River God by Wilbur Smith. Fantastic book and I recommend it highly. Also love Journey to the Center of the Earth and the Lord of the Rings.
When I was a kid I loved Goosebumps *giggle* especially the choose your own path ones.
I have some Egyptian books I haven't read yet and I really ought to read them. I'm just... a little apprehensive that they won't be nearly as good as River God. Still I should try em.
The story I am writing about my fursona takes up my spare time tho hehe. I'm going to post what parts I have written soon so you can all check it out. It isn't written as a literary masterpiece; I'm not adhering to all proper plot structures and whatnot. It is more an improvised story based on spontaneous inspirations. A story for me to be passionate about and not worry about rules.

Watership down is a good book, and man it's been years since I read that.
Also, lol, Goosebumps was AWESOME!!! I loved reading the books and watching the show, though the show could be really cheesy.
Thinking about Goosebumps I thought of other books I loved as a Kid, and I rememberd a series called "The Boxcar Children" I loved that series, but lost most of those books when I moved to Calgary (including my Original Book #1 copy, Maybe it's hidding in the basement in a box somewhere)

*laughs* I still have all my goosebumps (and action figures...) stored deep in my closet. I'm way too sentimental to get rid of em, especially my toys hehe

Legend of Drizzt is wonderful, and I really like the series. Though having some characters actually die would improve it I think XD

I'm currently reading "The Animal Manifesto". It's a really eye-opening book, reminding us that animals are sentient - breathing, feeling, thinking beings. There's a lot of really incredible stories!
