In light of LS new Griffin partial I started looking around at costume and fursuit websites and creators. Now there are some that absolutely blow me away, such as those done by Clockwork Creatures, and then those that are not so great and over-priced..... Yet because I know we have some very smart furs, we don't really need to worry about that. So what are some of the suits that you love? Their creators? How about suits you own?
* Edited to be more 'Fur' friendly

Since the furry community itself is relatively small, I wouldn't want to draw particular attention to specific 'bad' suits. There's also the fact that generally, people tend to get better at suit construction as they go. If they aren't committed to improving, they generally don't stay making suits for very long. It's a pretty involved and time-consuming process, after all. I'll suffice to say that there are definately people out there who make terrible suits, but think them to be worth much more than they are, and try to sell them as such. Fortunately, there aren't a whole lot of furs who spend that kind of money on a suit that isn't all that great, so most people don't make a business of it. (Some still manage, however.) As far as nice suits go, there are a few gorgeous ones out there. Quarezzel (Clockwork Creature) has great heads and some incredibly lifelike moving jaws, as you mentioned, although I can't say I'm particularily fond of the bodysuit style, myself. That's just personal preference as far as shaping goes. (This one has great legs, though: ) http://qarrezel.deviantart.com/art/Gilrandree-166858421?q=1&qo=1I find some of Beetlecat's suits quite excellent, and she also has the moving jaw down to a science. Her bodysuits are gorgeously shaped as well. A hyena: (The RedX suit still gets my vote for one of her best, though. http://www.beetlecatoriginals.com/gallery/Clawers/slides/hyenafinish1.htmlhttp://www.beetlecatoriginals.com/gallery/Clawers/slides/Red%20XIII.htmlMore excellent stuff by Quarezzel: http://qarrezel.deviantart.com/gallery/#/deko38And another bundle of awesome by Kiniro Oniba: http://kiniro-oniba.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1xc99cMany other amazing suits out there; these are just a few I've liked over the past few weeks. Seems that suit preference is very much a personal thing. There are a lot of people into suits by Latin Vixen (MixedCandy), but I've personally never really been that interested in the toony style. (Although there's a lot of talent there, to be sure.) Another one that I find interesting, but don't necessarily like the idea of a fixed, latex muzzle (if they came with moving jaws I'd be much more inclined) are suits from the fellows at Running Wolf Productions. (Ysengrin Blackpaw and company) http://www.runningwolfpack.com/http://www.runningwolfpack.com/how_we.htmlNothing wrong with a good werewolf suit. BeastCub's fairly new on the scene and makes some neat stuff as well. Very unique creations and style, and a lot of skill with airbrushing. I don't particularily like such large heads on my suits, but she does quite a nice job, visually. http://lilleahwest.deviantart.com/art/beastcub-creation-s-tigers-154192160?q=1&qo=1Always liked Soki Twopaw's personal suit: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=soki+twopaw#/d2e7m6cA unique one by Breakspire and Chikkennoodle: http://chikkennoodul.deviantart.com/art/Corby-Dark-Omen-166927729?q=1&qo=1http://chikkennoodul.deviantart.com/art/Corby-Confuzzled-Photoshoot-1-167475518?q=1&qo=1And although not a huge fan of the cartoony face style or straight-legged design, this newer wolfsuit has some AMAZING colours and pattern: (By MangoIsland) http://mangoisland.deviantart.com/art/Tribal-Wolf-166722125?q=1&qo=1I've always liked the savage-looking beasties, though. Big claws and smooth, realistic features do it for me. What are you into, Giri? Cheers; -Sephren

Never meant to offend anyone of course, just thought it would be interesting conversation.Yet is more fun to look at wonderful suits then those that could be improved~ Well you certainly have my taste in suits, basically to a tee. I'm always more for a very realistic and overall fascinating design. One partial I adore is by Quarrezzel found in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf0ubUcnO04It helped me find her main site in the end. I'd love to get a commisson from her,but that must wait for awhile now ^^ Those that you've posted are excellent, and I agree on the marking of the final toony version, really well done! I also like suits that hug the body well, most likely why I like partials most of the time. I always find articulated jaws are a must, and like smaller more human-sized heads. Particular team I like is Lion of the Sun : http://www.lionofthesun.com/ if you see how well his jaws move ~ Friggen awesome. http://www.komickrazi.com/costumes/index.html Komickrazi Studios has pretty nice airbruching, but I really like the beaver suits, nicely done. Monoyasha is fairly new but she is doing really well, this is one of her latests: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmyvJdFeH4Y&playnext_from=TL&videos=oReHqkwhMNA

Again, not personally a big fan of the toony suits, but DHC has a similar style (or target audience) to MixedCandy. Here's the website: http://www.donthugcacti.com/These types of suits turn out to be great for people performing for kids. Much easier to look friendly with such cartoony features. This one does have nice feet and fur colour: http://www.donthugcacti.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=10&pos=0-LS

And Giri, I hope you didn't take offense to my adversion to mocking suits. (Not that you seemed to.) I certainly wasn't offended by your post, if you thought I might have been. (It takes a lot to offend this creature.) Agreed; the moving jaw really adds to a suit. I also like the ones that hold tight to the body; hoping that the one upcoming from Beetlecat really shows a slim torso coupled with a padded ribcage to look feral, but slim. It's way too late for posting. Brain cells simply don't function like they should. Cheers; -Lady S.

lol No I didn't assume you were offended, but the fact the someone could was brought to my attention. So no worries ^^ Ah! I have heard of them! They certainly make nice, and in my opinion, cute suits ^^ I was following Lucky Coyote on Youtube for awhile actually (( Anyone notie a pattern? XD)) I started shifting through the gallery and ended up really like this suit : http://www.donthugcacti.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=15&pos=0 I think it might have to do with the coloring and expression. Do you have any preferred 'natural states/expressions" when it comes to fursuit heads? I like the calm or alert look personally, sometimes the happy expression constructed into the face freaks me out.

No doubt you're all familiar with One Fur All, but I might as well add it to the list! I can't say I've seen any of ScribbleFox's suits in person, but they look very good in photos/videos. I like the semi-realistic style that he does for a lot of suits, and the eyes are very expressive. I've also found some really nice fully realistic suits, such as Kurst's coyote. Only problem with them is that the wait times are crazy long, apparently. I like the queue that Clockwork Creature currently has (~5 orders taken once every month), where you have a decent chance at getting a suit completed in a relatively short amount of time. Why, I might even try to commission her at some point in the near future!

I would love to get a head from Clock work creatures! I beleive they are really quite reasonable. Yet I'm debating between them and Lion of the sun, here is the articulation I was mentioning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZAqDmjIC1E((The video doesn't do any justice to the actual fursuit head, check the gallery for better photos)) Though I haven't really heard much from them for awhile, and I love the fact Quarrzel will discount if you give her more creative liberty ~ I do really like that coyote and hadn't really heard of One Fur All. I nedd to do more google searches XD

This is when I get kinda torn between suits. I like toon suits since they are really just plan old fun,but I love realistic suits for their look as a whole. Ever since I keep finding toon sites it makes me like toon suits more and more, but I'd still get a realistic suit before a toon suit. However I decided to try my hand at making a fursuit head once I get paid. More Realistic suits: http://www.primalvisions.com/

Anyone check out Quarrezels latest? I love watching all the different fur suit makers slowly evolve in style and ability. Same with artists. Edit: Also found this pretty awesome tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/user/petrilude#p/c/CC0E9141FB953F13/19/eYLKghaYHaA

I've made two fursuits, one for me and one for my son. As for pricing, I wouldn't know what to charge, especially just starting out. I'm not terribly experienced, but I would like to think mine are not terrible. Both can be seen on my AF gallery.
I've always been a fan of the tooney/cute fursuits. The feral ones and more realistic ones are fabulous, and demonstrate a high degree of talent, but just not for me.

Whew, old topic. I realised this fun little question still existed here. So! I was wondering why some like more toon-styled suits and why others like semi-realistic or realistic. Mm.. for me, personally, costuming is being able to get in touch with another side of yourself, and express it like no one's watching. So, for some people that might mean that toony suits are the way to go, because you can be 'cute' and play. I tend to much prefer the realistic suits with teeth and claws, because that's what I'd like to express while in costume. I prefer to run and play in an animal-like way while in suit, and the snarling, beast-like suits allow me to feel like I'm expressing that in the way I enjoy. What do you all prefer? -LS
