Let's see... I got the forum back online under new software, got the emoticons set in, set up all the flags and whatnot that need to be done, got all the forums replaced that I can remember. There's plenty more for me to do though. A liger's job is never done!

So here's a list of stuff that I need to remind myself to do...
  • import graphics from original design
  • get the staff back online...
  • add "Species" field to the profile system
  • clean up the links from the main site and remove the index.html that states that the forum is closed yet coming back
  • add the original animal avatars back into the forum

I've changed the "Personal text" field in the profile system to "Species" since there seem to be a lot of personally settable status type thingies in this forum software and that's looking a bit redundant. That lets the species stuff show up very readily in one's profile, below the avatar, and also in each post and such made. Easy fix!

The animal avatars are now ported into the new forum software... so they should be accessible from your profile settings and whatnot.
Aaaand... I've fixed the links and removed the index.html file from the forum directory, so now http://www.furry.ca/forum/ defaults to the forum itself. Shades

I'm liking this new change for the simple fact that the URL is a lot simpler now. Tongue

Yeah, they do. Like a forest fire... a new, fresh forest soon prospers as it grows from the ashes of the old. The liger's been in hardcore phoenix mode for the past while on more than one level, too. Tongue

That inspires an interesting picture idea.

It's interesting the little things that we'd gotten used to on the other board.  I find it strange that you can't see where people are active anymore (Ie:  2 users active in the sketch pad, etc.).

Things are coming on nicely, though.  I've gotten used to the 'sewing machine' as opposed to the 'sewing box', and it has quite a nice ring to it.

I wasn't sure about 'general furmeets and gatherings', though.  It seemed to sound better as 'meets and get-togethers' in my opinion, especially considering we already have a 'general furry chatter' section.  It almost seems to overuse the word 'general'.  What do you think?

The species field works, but I believe in the profile itself it still asks for 'Custom title'.

You can still see who's where on the board. You just gotta click where it says "2 users, 3 guests" or whatever it has at the moment.

I'll change that forum name then. Am not attached to anything in particular, at the moment.

As for the "Custom Title" that's still a seperate field. I had changed what used to say "Personal Text" which was input immediately below the avatar stuff and is now showing as "Species"...

Oh, and as you can probably see, I've brought in more of the original board's graphics. Gotta put some colour into this place, after all. Wink

Yeah, I was over 8000 posts, myself... plodding my way to the 10 000 post mark. Heheh. Ah well. It's all about the community and not how much we post, after all. Wink

Yeah, I'm bitter over the loss of the one thousand posts... but meh, I suppose worse things can happen.

The forum's definitely looking purty now that the old forum 'skin' (fur? hide?) is back in place, too!

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with how the forum looks... like I've been saying a lot today. Heheh.
I like to collapse the personal info banner at the top (with that little minus sign button in it's upper right) so that there's a bit less clutter. It looks pretty good, if I dare say so myself! Cheesy

Oh, and I've been tinkering a bit with the theme again... specifically cleaning up how the user info looks along the left column of viewing a topic. I think it looks far better organised now, if I dare say so myself. Smiley

Just to let furs know, I've added in some more animal avatars to the general avatar bucket we've got here. I snagged them from the Human Pets app in Facebook, since most of those images are found all over the place already, as it is. Tongue
