Hey furs. I'm relatively new here (see Greets thread if you want a little bit about me), but I've been up all night in anticipation for a road trip that leaves in about 20 minutes. I had to get my excitement out of my system. I ride a 125cc scoot, and I'm leaving the Saanich area of Victoria to get back to Nanaimo hopefully before noon (it's just past 6am here). As I'm not really freeway capable, a lot of backroads and maps are in store for me, although once I get out of Victoria I'll have a lot better idea of where I'm headed. Any furs out there going on a roadtrip soon, now, or are they on the road currently? I know my little trip isn't much in the way of distance, but I love to ride and travel anywhere.

Awesome! I've been on a lot of roadtrips, more now than ever before. Work takes me around a lot, and I only got a car in September of last year, but in the interim I've been to Michigan, Columbus, Baltimore, Ottawa, and London. I love it to death, but the car thing is getting really expensive, especially with gas. Nothing really planned for the next few weeks though.

I've been on my share of road trips, but I haven't been on any in the past longest while. I just don't have the time or money for such travel for now. Benjamin

Wow, thats sounds like alot of fun! The backroads round here are great...though I hope it gets more sunny for ya, outside my window looks cold & windy. Ya should try the old railway bed in the Cowichan Valley...through I'm not sure how far it goes, know the middle goes through the Duncan/North Cowichan area.

I'm back! Total Time: 3 hrs 45mins incl. Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay ferry ride Distance Traveled: 125kms Fuel consumed: 3.25L (that's 38.5km/L if anyone's interested ) Hypothermia: priceless I just about froze my tail off out there. The sun is starting to come out now, of course, but I could've used that solar heat about two hours ago. I've been in the door 20 minutes, and I'm still shaking a bit. Next time I've gotta bring warmer wears, but who would have predicted 7 degrees in June? By the way AlanTabby, I rode right through that area. There's a couple of roads that take you through the Valley, and now that I've done that trip a few times I'm starting to get the hang of them. Gorgeous area in the right weather. I take it you live out that way?

Yeah, don't take a scooter with 10 inch wheels down a highway at 95km/h unless you like to live dangerously. It was pretty freaky on the parkway, so I used it as little as I could, and stayed on the side roads, doing 60-70. Much nicer ride that way anyways. Make sure to take lots of time to get off, and just chill. You butt will thank you, especially if it's planted on a bike seat designed for 20 minute city rides, not 4 hour highway rides. Really, just don't rush your trip and have fun. There's tons out there to do if you've got the time. The destination isn't nearly as cool as the journey (yeah, yeah, I know, dust off the old chestnut...).

Knew ya were gonna freeze! *shakes head* darn this weather, its like reverse global warming. Did ya go over to Brentwood? Bet ya had lots of fun though. I don't like cars,so I'll either get a motorcycle or a scooter, leaning towards a small gas scooter that I don't need a driver's lisence for *hates BC's system, takes too long*.
Yes, our farm backs onto the railbed if ya wanna stop by some time. (Parents like abit of warning if someone is gonna visit though, specially since we have to un-lock the gate)

What? Only three hours? That ain't no road trip, that's just a quick outing around the block! I looove road trips. I've literally been coast-to-coast across this great nation of ours, and regularly make the 14 hour trip "home" to see my parents.

A road trip does sound like fun. I've never one been on one before. I only went to Ontario with my family back when I was 15 and that took 19 hours but it was boring because it was Mom and her boyfriend

Heheh, well, chalk it up to naivety I suppose, it's the longest trip on two wheels I've ever been on. I did indeed take the Brentwood ferry. A character boat if I ever saw one, that thing. Surprised there wasn't oaring stations in the passenger locker, er, I mean lounge.

sure thing, on a scooter it's far, I had 3 scooter, my 50cc ones(had 2 of them, suzuki ae50r) they wouldn't go faster than 63km/h, and after 15 minutes on the seat my ass was crying for a real seat xP, then I thought I'd buy another one to be more comfortable and faster... a tuned yamaha bw's with a 70cc oversized kit... was going 95km/h but blown in less than 2 days , I guess your scooter is more reliable than those I had xP(btw, no scooter anymore for me, cars are more reliable and may be used 4 seasons)
