Well, I havn't been in a Fursuit, seen a Fursuit in real life, known anyone personally who has a Fursuit, or anything like that. And I'm not that inclined to costuming because nobody's ever cared. . . However. . . Fursuiting seems like it's fun, so I wonder, would anybody here mind sharing some Fursuit exerpeinces, what it's like ( other then warm ), and how other's reactions were, I don't know, just general stories. If you think it's worth the money and the effort ( Canada's worst Fursuiter! ) , or if it's just overrated, I'm interested in hearing other's opinions. (Note, I didn't think it'd go into the " Sewing Machine " Section because it's discussing experienes, not discussing techniques or anything, sorry if it's misplaced. . . ) ~Grey

I've never been in a fursuit or seen anyone in one, but I have loads of friends (who like, live in the states, mind you) with them and who suit a lot, and I'm getting one made by my friends at Dont Hug Cacti, I'm super excited. (: I mean, considering your age, which is 13, I think? (I'm 15, btw) if you wanted one, you should so what I did and just order a partial suit, because if you got the full suit, you'd most likely grow out of the bodysuit eventually as you get taller. Partials are, from what I heart, MUCH cooler than full suits because the bodysuit is the biggest heat-maker. The biggest problem with a partial is how hot it would be under the head, but hey, you'll be having fun, you wouldn't notice Especially if you wanna parade around town haha... Long story short, if you plan on going on any gatherings or conventions any time in the future, I'd certainly gnab one, but keep in mind to get a decent suit you have to be prepared to pay a pretty large sum of cash. Whoa, that was irrelevant and totally not what you were looking for in an answer, sorry, haha

I've been a fursuit before. It's quite fun ^^. It does get very warm though but it's all snuggly at the same time. The fursuit I had on was a fuzzy dragon thingy. An old friend owned it. I wasn't sure what animal to call it but it was really cute. I wore quite a few times.
One time I wore with the person who owned it for a radio contest we did XD

My fursuit isn't coming until October (fullsuit) but I have wore another furs head to a fundraiser (she had on her fullsuit). I must tell you that it was a wonderful experience! I actually felt freer to be myself (my true self)! As many fursuiter before me and probably well after me will say... it's HOT! Even in the head I was pretty warm. But you know... it's all worth it. I'm paying a good amount for my fursuit... and I will never regret it!

I've never seen one, made one or wore one but i've learned on the net about the steps taken and necessary precautions. GOOGLE'S AMAZING!
I've read some blogs from the masters of fursuiting and seen tutorials. I'd say the hardest part would be the head because it's so detailed and you have to have some artistic skills to get the face right to your liking. And it is quite expensive for the fabrics and materials. It takes lots of time too and a good working environment that's spacious and well lit.
I wish I had the time and money... and space to make a fur suit. From what I've heard it's a fantastic experience, but it's very warm too.

haha... I have 2 full fursuits and I've never worn them outside of the house ^_^;;; There are some cons coming up I plan on wearing them to... I'll let you know
Though I have noticed, just putting them on to give them a test drive, I really enjoy how they force you to express yourself physically, because speaking is no longer an option.

Well, you still can speak... but... when in suit... you just really don't want to.

The more I read, the more it sounds like a big faux pa. Oh well.. I suppose no one is going to kick me out of the fur club if I break the rules.

Speaking, a faux paux? Here's my take on speaking in a fursuit: Many fursuitters decide not to speak because they are trying to emmulate the animal they're dressed up as. BUT they are anthropomorphic animals. Anthropomorphics are animals that have human characteristics, one of the main human characteristics we use is speech. So I don't see a huge problem with it.

Well, you still can speak... but... when in suit... you just really don't want to.
Not always the case....two of my suits have moving jaws which move perfectly with mine when I speak. It all depends on what kind of suit you have as to how you may want to interact in them.

You still can speak with out a movable jaw. It just sounds... muffled. I'm getting a moving jaw on mine (but I still won;t speak since my fursona is a guy and I can't wreck the illusion by speaking)

I think not speaking in a fursuit makes it cuter. I always try to make the people in the suit speak and they usually cover their face with their paws ^_^

Ive seen a few fursuits, but ive never been in one. As for talking I if the fur can express what he/she is thinking or wants without words its alot cuter ^^ also ive heard from 2 fursuiter friends of mine that the moveing jaw makes it alot easier to drink things.

You get the full suiting experience at furry conventions when hoards of people want to take pictures of you, taking part in games, and the suit parade, not everyone in the fandom is in it for the suits, so not everyone will acknowledge you. Its also a good way to meet other suiters is to have one

I'll let you know Same here, never been out with mine yet *needs some watchers* For me, being in a suit makes you look like the fluffiest and cuddliest thing around, so that's why I really appreciate it. So far, I've only been practicing showing off emotions and gestures on my webcam, when I'm co-hosting on my friend Bleis' BlogTV.com show. I have to admit it's fun to do, and the feedbacks you receive are rather satisfying. People appreciate those kind of recomforting sights ; a fuzzy fox waving his pinky pawpads and giving out free hugs XD

Okays thought I would add my experinces.. I lent Fenris my head & well not a straw he was drinking as in stuffing the entire bottle down his throat ..so you can drink but I prefre not to drink in fursuit ..If i do however ill do it like a human & well with the head on it looks funny when i do..i always do a body sign for like what the hell did i do ? I never have spoken ever. I am all about the not speaking.. Ive been at the Calgary stampede yes in +35 weather & yes no fans all fur for 6 hrs in suit you get used to it ..besides going beside the sprays like a light mist really helps sometimes. Ive been at the stampede w times working at the Haunted house at Stampede . Been on a Jumbotron in front of 50,000 people hugging an announcer...which was fun. Rode a cow (fake) was fun. Walk around at Boo at the Zoo usually every Halloween in full fursuit & even have gone on a race simulator in full costume with tons of kids & acted ill . (in the end I did feel ill but all was good). Walked down my street several times waved at the neighbours. Played airsoft for a friend in full fursuit with goggles ..called a game monster where I hunt them the people with guns down. This was for a stag party. Went to Southcentre Mall & had my picture taken sitting with Santa Claus. Worked in a haunted house for 11 years & 6 of those years in costume (wolf) as I usually charge after people. Been on TV on Big Breakfast, Global & Shaw as well as CBC for some Halloween Newscasts. Been to several sci fi cons but never been to a furry con yet as im a wee shy on that. Been to Vulcan, Alberta several times 4 years & have been know as the only furry to go to Vulcan. Well liked there. Gone bowling in a half suit , gone ice skating in a full suit. Done a Haunted house at my mothers house where all the neighbourhood kids look forward to seeing he wolf . And this year I'll be featured in a small low budget film .. So im just shy meeting others furs though ....I love fursuiting & if i had it my way I would be in it as much as possible. Its a great experience & I just love it...as its me Only thing i dont like is when kids pull my tail or they like to kick you other than that im ok with it Pics attached of me in next message
