Hello there! The name's Asher, a friendly red fox ready for intelligent discussion with furs from the country above him.

I guess I'll give a bit of a background on me and my experience with Canada: I'm live in Oregon, but have been on road trips with a friend up to BC and Alberta a couple times, and I must say, I had a great experience whilst there. It was not exactly a culture shock, but I did notice some small differences, such as variances in pronunciation, ketchup flavored potato chips, and my crazy friend driving through Calgary at 160kph in a 110 kph zone... in a tiny Subaru Justy! Ever since third grade, I've wanted to go to Canada, and it was quite an experience being there. I even took a sample citizenship test and passed! xD

Anyway, on to some info about me. I try my best to be polite and friendly to anyone I cross paths with--I feel that manners, especially on the internet, are becoming quite a rarity.

So yeah! I'm glad to be part of a wonderful furry community! Hope to see all of you around here and have some great discussions :

Hey there, Asher;

I feel like I've seen your fursona around somewhere.  The internet's not all that big of a place, though, so it's certainly possible.  Smiley

Ahaha.  You don't have those up there, eh?  It seems a fairly Canadian thing to have at least a few people in your family who are ketchup fiends.  Not to mention the poutine and the bacon.  (And the hockey sticks and snow blowers, in some parts of the country.)

I know going into America, I always find it strange how there are gun stores on the corners and liquor in the shopping centres.  You'd think WE'D have the liquor in the shopping centers considering how tightly American alchohol consumption used to be regulated.  It's a strange world indeed.

Glad to see another who appreciates good conversation and a decent level of respect.  (And possibly top hats and a cup of tea as well, eh?  Jolly good.)  Smiley  I'm sure you'll find that we're generally full of good conversation and the occasional dollop of random silly banter thrown in there for good measure.  If you're looking for 'OMGLOLWUT' it seems you might have ended up in the wrong place.  Smiley

Hey! I have been around quite a few furry sites, so it may be possible you've seen my fursona there. I never heard of ketchup flavored potato chips before I went into a Canadian convenience store--I was also surprised at the massive chewing gum isle. And yeah, Americans love their bewze and their guns. Each country has its own quirks about it, but I think the best recollection of my Canadian trip was that it was easier to get into Canada than it was to get back into the US, being an American citizen and all. But it makes sense to me, terrorizing Canada would be like terrorizing your grandma Tongue

Top hats and tea? I actually do enjoy a nice cup of tea here and there as I do not really drink coffee--can't say the same for my parents though xD

Thanks a ton for the really warm welcome. I really do have a tremendous amount of respect for my northerly neighbor, not to say I'm obsessed, just really respectful Wink

Welcome to our great and chilly country. It is a blast even when your freezing your fur off. I have lived in the states when I was younger Tucson, AZ and Spokane, WA for just over a year. Spokane was great, but Tucson is too hot. What's it like in Oregon?

Did you at least try some Tim Horton's, while you were up here? I am a tea drinker as well, (I say away from coffee it gets me too hyper) but it is a national icon.
P.S. What kinds of teas do you like?

Hello and thanks for your reply! I can understand Arizona being much too hot--I'd probably go nuts if I had to deal with 100°.. oh wait--metric.. (converts)... 37°C weather. xD

Well that depends on where you are in Oregon! I live on the north-eastern side of the state, so it is quite dry, grassy, and sparsely populated. The western side is very wet, rainy, and much more densely populated.

Yes, I went to Tim Hortons, but I only had a sandwich from there. It was a pretty darn good one too for a coffee shop. xD
I like a bunch of teas, but my favorite would have to be peppermint.

Those of us in the South Okanagan (in BC) enjoy a hearty 40° in the hottest parts of summer.  Smiley  I quite like it, although I know some people aren't so fond.

Hello! Nice to meet you ^.=.^ Ah... the last time i was in America, i was far too young to pay any attention to miniscule culture differences, besides everyone knowing me and my family were Canadian because we said "Eh" LOL but im thinking this summer i might travel to the "States"...  And was your friend by chance going 160kph, on the Deerfoot? because if so i assure you thats entirely normal... its either that, or bumper to bumper 10kph ha ha, sometimes i really dont miss living in Calgary XD

You are entirely right! We either went 160kph or 10 on Deerfoot Trail. Mainly going through Calgary we hit the bumper-to-bumper stuff, but going north was  160 almost all the way, though it did thicken a bit through Red Deer.

Sounds about right XD
Thats why most "Calgarians" also know Deerfoot Trail as "The Deerfoot 500" Ha ha ^.=.^

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of iced tea either. I prefer it hot as well. I hope you have a good time in the States. I definitely had fun in Canada. Aside from a few teeny differences, yeah, we're pretty much the same ^^

What?  You must be from the east side of Canada; our Iced Tea down here in the west is most certainly the cold version.  Smiley

The weather was a nice change (no snow Cheesy) and the people were mostly nice Smiley. Not a biggy on cultural difference, but people had no idea what a tuque was lol. Or interact (debit) or brewskie, but meh. ^^
