Well, having been inspired by your rendition of me, I might just have a pretty little vixen sketch waiting for you when you get home.  Wink

Haha, sorry. You mentioned vixens and this came to mind. It has no real context being here, but it remains 87% true. But in any case, Woo! Thanks Ruby! :3

Seph: Thanks!! ^^;;

I'm glad you approve, and as for being inside your head, I do apologize, but in my defense, the door was open and there was a  sign for free cookies.

I WANT MY COOKIES! XO

haha, all right, save the insanity for insanity day.

Thanks for all the great tips and advice too. Though I feel like I should give some advice back, or bake a pie or just do something other then say thank you. :/

I'm working security for a company that has a lot of contracts in Fort Mcmurry and its surrounding area. Currently I'm up at a new, supposedly "eco-friendly" oil extraction facility. (Don't even get me started... *groan*)

I've also worked security at a grocery store/liquor store/gas station place downtown, which was probably the scariest thing of my life. o_0

The job is kinda lame, but its giving me a chance to save up for school and get out of debt. Its 2 weeks on, 12 hours a day, then two weeks off.

I'm really hoping to get money saved up and bills paid so I can go back to my old job at the Park. :3

So thats my job. Have you started your new job yet? If so, how is it?

haha sorry, really off topic. ^^;

Erm... hm. Perhaps this should be split off into a separate topic in Get it Out of Your System, if it keeps going. Smiley I find it pretty interesting! (although I feel bad for taking over TJ's topic)

~Josiah

Don't feel bad, both you and Seph had some interesting points, and I think its kinda made me realize some things. :3

So, to sum it up: It helped me, everyone's on the same page, and everyone is HAPPY! YAY! :3

Now enjoy some PUPPY-TIME!

(Also, feel free to carry on here if you like, as your right, it is an interesting subject.)

BTW Still taking requests and trades, if anyone is interested.  more sketches to come! :3

Oh, you're welcome to have them all; I certainly don't eat them.

Fort Mac, eh?  If I knew you were heading out there, I might have got on up there as well.  Was looking for a good excuse to head out there for a while.

The job out here in Elkford is good; so far there's a fair amout of office time (which I dislike, because I prefer to be outside and mobile than inside at a desk), but in the next few weeks it should get pretty busy with fieldwork, and that'll take us right through the rest of the year, so I'm looking forward to it.  The town itself is gorgeous.

I know what you mean about big industry.  I'm currently at a coal plant, and although it's MUCH cleaner than the oil refineries of Fort Mac (just for the nature of the process), it's still crazy to realise how much is actually being changed.  Although the pollution here isn't a big issue (The air emmissions are mostly steam and a bit of coal dust, which isn't terrible stuff), they're moving entire mountains (literally), and you just wonder what the effects are going to be, especially the rainwater leachate through the newly opened rock.

Sucks, though; I know the oil sands are just absolutely defiling.  And they tend to cover up a lot of the more serious issues that are caused.  All in the name of money, of course..  Certainly it's worth it.  [/blatant sarcasm]

[/derailing]

Back to art:  I finished your pieces.  The painted one I did before I realised you weren't a black-socks-fox, so it's a little incorrect in that regard.

Buying steel-toes for this job.  That's funny that you saw me.  I ran into a LOT of people I knew that day.

Well, it wasn't so much about the cookies as the principle. They were free. Everyone likes free stuff. :3

I haven't really seen that much of Fort Mac, as I'm about 45 minutes out of the town at the oil site, and  I don't see the sun until the day I go home. So all I really see when driving to or from site, is flare stacks and road.

The wildlife is pretty cool up here. Lots of wolves and foxes. I keep bringing my camera, but its always to dark to see anything, so I  have no idea what the scenery is like. I'm hoping to drive out from the island and back and forth when the weather improves, because the company will pay for my fuel, and I hate airports. :/
But I'm hoping by driving in the spring and summer, I can check out the area, get some pictures and do some camping up here and in BC. So we'll see how that works out. :3

Glad to hear you like the job, though I must agree with you. Desk work is not nice. But hopefully you'll be out in the field before you know it. :3

Its kind of an eye opener when you see the impact humans are making with your own eyes. The funny thing is you can see it almost everywhere if you look for it. :/

The facility I'm at is a steam extraction plant, and the major downside is that if they apply too much pressure, they risk fracturing the ground, and releasing H2S as well as natural gas and oil into the surrounding area. But oil sands projects and any kind of strip mining process is pretty devastating, and money is the only reason they get away with it...

But, I think that belongs in a different thread entirely. On with arts!

You actually painted me a picture?! I thought we were just doing sketches! I... uh... you...erm... ^^;

Thank you very much, Seph! I really hope it wasn't too much trouble. :3

Don't worry about the socks, sometimes I put them on just to shake it up a bit. ^^

Ah, I was painting it before you put up this thread, actually, so I figured I'd jump in and do a sketch trade as well.  They're both finished now; just awaiting a camera cord.  (I'll still get the actual pieces to you at some point, though.)

Not going to reply to the rest right now as I'm pretty bagged from staring at a computer all day, but I'll catch it all later.  (Surprising that I'm so bored at work on the computer, and then I come home, and where do I go?  The computer.)

Ahhh, right! I remember now. ^^;
Actually, when I heard you were doing a picture for me, I did a quick sketch (This was like a month ago, before I knew your fursona had changed ^^;)

It was just a quick one, but here it is.

"Seph teaching TJ how to handle snakes."
It was the only thing that came to mind at the time. :/

Its amazing that sitting in front of a computer can make you more tired then actually doing stuff. XD I'm learning this now, as the computer is my liferline up here XD.

Look forward to the rest of your reply. :3

Heh, heh.  That's an older one, right?  I swear I've seen it before.

Very good job on the expressions, once again.  Smiley

Oh, the art certainly isn't too much trouble.  It's fun, after all.  Smiley

.. For the life of me I don't remember why I was planning a longer response.  Mabye on the weekend when I'm less tired.  Smiley

A plethora of happy-faces for you in this thread, apparently.

Woo! I can't wait to see them! :3 Thanks again for doing them Seph. :3

So, I made it home, although my glasses suffered death by fall and multiple stompings by people in the Edmonton Airport.

Other then that, and the 3 hour delay on my 13 minute flight from Vancouver to Nanaimo, the trip wasn't too bad. :3

So here are the scanned versions of my doodles!

Seph Riding Ze Dragon!

Ze Ruby!

Ze Spooky Seph!

Ze Khit!

And because I said I would (And because she coloured one for me) Here is the final version of Shnell's character, Khit!

I sized it up a bit for photobucket, but the fullsize original is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3354016/

So yes. That is it from my last trip. If anyone is interested in doing trades, lemme know, as it would be fun and stuff! :3

Thanks again to everyone for giving me stuff to do, I had lots of fun doing them. :3

Thank you ^^ I like doing the cartoon style eyes, just because they are fun, and it makes em look funny. :3

Yep, I sent you that picture in a reply email from a month or so ago. Wasn't sure if you got it, so I thought I would put it up here. :3

No worries if you can't remember the reply. :3

Aye, I did recieve that one.  Thanks once again, I do quite like it.  Smiley

Finally got the camera cord.  Unfortunately, I havn't picked up a version of photoshop for fear of getting a more serious virus than the one I got already from the same process.  So, the pencilled lines aren't darkened, but you can certainly still make it out.  If you want to play around with it in photoshop yourself, you're welcome to it.  (It's yours, after all.)

TJ on a dragon:

And the one I was doing previously, which I lost inspiration for near the end, hence the rushed look of some of the colouring.

Thanks for the trade; always a pleasure.  Smiley  I'll do you a decent coloured one someday; this was just an image that was on my mind that didn't actually turn out quite as I had wanted it to.

Okay, a moment to reflect...

Alright. So...

OMFG YO! Those are killer! If I had a dragon like that, I would re-enact the scene from Never Ending Story and chase down some bullies. And go through a drivethrough, just to see what they say. XD

I also laughed pretty hard at the painted one, as it reminded me a lot of Fantastic Mr. Fox. You say you wish it had turned out better, but I am pretty excited for it! I really like the blue you used for the hair. I just bought some atomic turquois that I'm hoping to use in the summer with my shocking blue, as I really miss my blue hair. :3

Thank you so much for doing them and for doing the trade. I hope we get a chance to do it again! :3
You don't have to do another version, this one is freaking amazing! :3

I'm curious as to what kind of paint you used. It was watercolour right? I just started with oil paints and I find watercolour easier to control, but I guess its all about practice. :/

Thank you, TJ.  Smiley

Yea, the inspiration for the first one was mostly the idea that I could definatley see you getting yourself into some kind of situation with a bag of chickens and an angry old man with a shotgun.  You just make that kind of thing happen.

The colours got a bit warped with the camera, but I'm glad you like it nonetheless.

Certainly, I'm always happy to do art trades, providing my life isn't full of crazy.

I generally use watercolours, yep.  To be honest, I tried painting with oils and just despised them.  They have an incredibly toxic smell that can't be good for you to breathe in, and they take ages to dry.  Plus, the texture I find somewhat abhorrent when you're used to a flatter, non three-dimentional style of painting.  They often have a 'shine' to them when they're dry, too, which I don't like.  (And it's hard to photograph.)

Acrylics are nice, though.  They're easier to get onto the paper than oils, they dry faster, and they can be used overtop each other to cover darker colours, unlike watercolours.  Mistakes are also equally as easy to fix; watercolour (if you're used to it) can be blended fairly decently when you accidentally fling your paintbrush full of black paint haphazardly across the page.  (Trust me, it does happen on occasion.)  Acrylics are fairly nice to fix mistakes with as well; you can simply paint over them once they're dry enough.

Some people use oils quite effectively, and you can create some neat scenes quite quickly once you know how to work with them, but I don't think I'll ever be one of those people.

Cheers;   Smiley

Then for the sake of your dusty sketchbook, we must trade! Did you have anything in mind there, Brasou? Or do you just wanna freestyle it? :3
