I felt that the title of this post needed '~' marks, because it should ideally be spoken in a Protoss Dragoon's voice. ---------- So, I'm back from the land of no internet. Just moved up to a TINY town on the BC/AB border called Elkford, and it lives up to its name with a wide selection of elk. (As well as deer, bears, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, cougars, and wolves, among other things, the last of which I'm almost certain I've seen tracks of.) I must wholeheartedly say that those suckers are BIG. Anyways, the weather is gorgeous, the amount of snow is unbelievably different than the NONE that I'm used to in the sunny South Okanagan, and the job so far is well-paying and incredibly accomodating. Have a great roommate from Edmonton, and very much enjoying the silence of nature and the wonderful small-townyness of it all. I asked for a map of Elkford and the lady at the gas station just laughed. Been without internet for mabye.. two and a half weeks now? It's a very odd state; you very nearly 'forget' your dependance on such things and start thinking that you don't even care if it comes back. (Except for the inevitable commissions and friendly email back-and-fourth that of course, must go on.) Anyways, I love you all dearly and hope that the internet has been well in my absence. Not that it wouldn't be, mind you, but I just havn't been around to make sure! I'l probably be off-and-on keyboard-shy for a few days, and then hopefully get back into the swing of things. There were a LOT of email messages to go through, and I don't even want to think about how many DeviantArt submissions that might be waiting to smother me when I log on. It's nice to be back. Cheers, -Lady Serpent

Good to see you back! ^.=.^ Elkford eh? sounds like a really small version of Prince George! How much snow do you have up there right now? i imagine a decent amount considering the copious amount i have here, heck i have a mountain of snow so high on my front lawn i actually cant even see when Semi-Trucks drive by XD

*Laughs* Yea, it's not a bad place at all. It's a fair stone's throw away from your stomping grounds, (8 hours from Oliver, so around 13 from the Vancouver mainland itself), but it's certainly scenic. As for snow, I've been told that the mountains have around 2 metres, though we're expecting much more in the coming months. Around where I walk, it's mabye three feet (about a metre), although I havn't tested that theory by trying to walk on untouched snow. Certainly a lot of hiking potential. I've actually heard that Prince George is very different than it used to be; much less forested area these days and much more construction. Does that seem to be the case? Thanks for the welcome-back; -LS

Well.... Inside the city we did loose alot of our pines trees to the pine beetle infestation, and there has been a loss of parks, but there are still a copious amount. And there are still tones of wonderful mountain biking trails/ ATV trails, and among those some nice places to walk. This city grows on ya ^.=.^
Good luck with the finalizations of your move!

Welcome back!
Glad to hear that your new location is a neat place. Just got back to BC myself. I was in a little town 45 minutes west of Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, and it was about -50 degrees up there, so I feel your pain. It must be really pretty up there in the mountains, though I imagine the place will be really beautiful come spring. ^^
Anyways, good to see your back, and if you get a chance, get a picture of a fox for meee!! haha jk

I read your explanation of the title and couldn't help but smile. Also I have had an extended absence myself, RL really picks up sometimes and these breaks are essential to our sanity... I'm looking to get out of Alberta and into BC when my final year of school is finished, every time I visit that province I'm always in awe over the scenery and potential for more close-to-home outdoorsy stuff.
Welcome back to the forums, I'll see you around!

Heh. Thanks, all. I'm looking to get out of Alberta and into BC when my final year of school is finished, every time I visit that province I'm always in awe over the scenery and potential for more close-to-home outdoorsy stuff.
Actually, the roomate I have up here is moving out after 8 months when his work term ends, so I'll have the place to myself from around August to December. The rent per person is $500/mo; if you're interested in coming up here for some time you're certainly welcome to do so. (Or, if you're passing through, we do have an extra bed (mine is a bunk), so you're welcome to come just for a quick visit as well.) Glad you're taking some time to get away. Cheers; -Lady Serpent

Aww..
I'm hoping to send out a real update soon, I'm just lacking the proper camera cord right now to upload any pictures. Hopefully soon, though.

That it does indeed. I'm almost finding that I'm right back into being super-busy, even though I'm out in the boonies with relatively few projects going on. Thanks for the warm welcome, despite the fact that I've been back for a while. Cheers; -LS

Ive talked to you before I think in my greeting thread, but welcome back! Elkford is awesome, my family used to vacation there. Crisp mountain air, beautiful scenery. Ahh... Too bad my grandma sold her condo there Enjoy the awesomeness of Elkford! Lucky *grumble grumble*
