The Email RP!

Hey there, all!

I know there are some great Roleplayers on this board.  We're starting up an email roleplay, so if you're interested, make a post and drop me your email.

How it works:

This is an animal or anthro furry-based RP. 

There will only be seven players to start, so space is limited.  Each player will be assigned a day of the week.  On your day, you send your RP post to all the other players.  You can only post on your day.  If you MISS your day, the RP continues on without you until your day comes again.

You write your post on the top of the previous day's email, so people can see everything that was said up to that point.  Everyone also puts their name in brackets before their post, so you can easily see who typed what.

We'd like to play with people who can type decently.  Your typing doesn't have to be perfect, of course, but you need to be able to type something readable, and something that contributes to the RP.  (Not just one or two lines of text.)

It's a fairly open RP; there might be adult subjects on occasion although we're not aiming for it to be a 'yiffy' RP.  There will probably be violence, however, just because some of us are violent people and it's a good outlet. 

There's no age limit, and if you're ever uncomfortable with any of the subject matter you can certainly discuss it with me through email.



There are only a few rules:
-Try not to use excessive swearing.  Some foul language is fine when it fits the mood, but we don't want your character(s) dropping an f-bomb every few minutes.

-Keep it fair.  Don't make yourself invincible or try to be 'the best', and don't make other people's characters look stupid, or RP their characters excessively.  If the RP's changing direction from where you want it to go, try to work with it.  It's not always going to be exactly the story you want.  (Otherwise it wouldn't be an RP!)

-If there's an issue, you can take it up with me through email, and we'll discuss it with the players involved.


It should be quite a good time.  If this one works out smoothly, we'll certainly establish another one, so don't worry if you're not part of this one.

The setting for this particular RP will start off with a chilly early-morning mist around an old 'abandoned' castle in a rainy place, with grassy fields surrounding it.  Past that, it's all free game.

Typically how long do our email RP contributions have to be? 1 paragraph.... 3 paragraphs... 5?

I haven't really RP'd before either, but I do consider myself to be fairly good with words and I do love a good story... If that last spot hasn't been taken I might be interested in giving it a shot (I'm pretty sure I grasp the basics, but I certainly wouldn't mind any tips you might have on RP technique or etiquette if you think I'd be a good candidate).

You use my hotmail address for casual emailing already, but the one I use for most things is jjtobin (AT) shaw DOT ca... that one would be best.

Josiah, i'm sure Seph will mix things up every now and then. Actually, here's a good idea.

She should start up another RP, with people who missed the first! Having 2 running at one time would be cool.

Yes, that's hopefully the idea, but only if the first one gets up and running smoothly. 

Don't want to jump into too much right off the bat with all the other projects going on right at the moment.

We'll figure out a rhythm once everyone gets into it.  Basically whatever people end up being comfortable with will be what we do.

Well, we'll see how busy I may or may not be when that time comes. Truth be told I'd probably have some trouble keeping up with this one due to all the other stuff demanding my time at the moment, so it's probably for the best.

That's a decent idea, although I don't think all of our players have fursona pictures that they're happy with.  Also, some of us tend to play characters that aren't our own personal fursonas, or introduce multiple characters over time.  The easiest thing to do is just to introduce your character with a colourful description, so people can envision for themselves what you're trying to portray.
 
Thanks for the suggestion, though.  And if you'd like to do that for yourself, feel free to send a picture to everyone.  I'm sure it coudln't hurt!
