I was up and on FA when the whole drama started, altough I didn't actually watch the clip until a few hours later. Chewfox, the lady who appeared on Tyra, was banned. And unbanned. It seems. :/ Not exactly sure. I feel kind of bad for her. Nobody deserves the hateful comments she's been getting. But I don't really want to get into it, I feel like I could go on forever about this >_<

Hahaha. That's good. Thanks for sharing. I couldn't help but laugh as the guy listed off the fur markings on his character ( among other things).

Also, I like how the clip obviously singles out on the part with the furries in it, it's kinda funny how the furries are the only monogamous couple there. I'mma go and check out FA to see if I can find any of this drama.

I just find it funny how people in this fandom get so mad over this subject when we all know there are several fursuit-sex communities and parties out there.  Its not like its 100% inaccurate, unless they said 'all' furries do this.  But there is sex in every subculture, we're all human after all.

I sighed and lol'd at this. I sighed because, the last thing we need is furs going on T.V. and feeding the media this kinda stuff.

I lol'd because...Well I dunno why I lol'd, but I did. I just found it funny in a way. But I'm weird, so, yeah...

I found it funny. But it made me feel sick at the same time.

I think Hali from FA said it best when he said whenever you associate yourself with the fandom, you are representing that fandom as a whole, like it or not.

Sure, we can say 'Well I'm not like THAT fur or THOSE furs over there,' but the fact that you ARE a fur is enough to lump you into those subgroups no matter what exceptions you try to give yourself.

I know the dust from this has settled somewhat, and it seems no one's suffered any ill effects from it.  I was personally worried about some of the fursuiters here in Calgary, who've become regulars at the zoo.  My biggest fear was that they'd be shunned from the place because of all this.  Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case.

Still, it makes me wonder what the next fame-seeking fur's gonna do that'll make the rest of us want to go even further underground...

So if a Catholic priest represents his fellow priests as a whole, and they ended up being charged for sexual assault, does that mean the rest of the Catholic priests out there automatically get the bad rep too?

I'd say yes.  Being involved in an institution, fandom, or otherwise automatically makes you an ambassador for said group.  Your actions as an individual, as far removed from your associations as they may be, still reflects on that association.

I am going to assume the same rule applies to citizens of each country? Since a country could be classified as a form of institution since it houses people. If so that makes us rapists, serial killers, and kickers of puppy dogs.

EDIT: Oh yea can't forget about bestiality and us being pedos at the same time.

Well, if someone from Iraq blew up the CN Tower, killing hundreds or perhaps over a thousand people, wouldn't your first reaction be to think all Iraqis are terrorists bent on destroying our country?

Perhaps you yourself wouldn't because you have a far more open mind than some others, but put enough people together to form that kind of mob mentality, and presto, Mr. Dead Terrorist has just discredited his country of origin.

The same can be said for American or Canadian tourists who make complete ass-hats of themselves in other countries.  To the person they've been rude to, any Westerners in the future will be evaluated by that person based on that first encounter.

Yeah.... CN Tower isn't that important for anyone to go after it though  Cool but... maybe somewhere else more important

So I am just saying it could happen to anyone. And because of that single event you should sum up that group of people due to a single person or small group of the people is pretty shallow :/

At the risk of sounding cynical, when you're dealing with the masses, the masses *are* pretty shallow.

Indeed, a group is going to be judged based on the few, individual contacts the general public has with that group. This is no different than, for example, gay couples who are into S&M or bondage not being representative of the whole gay community. Uneducated, ignorant tards are still going to lump you in with the guy with the whips and chains because he doesn't know any better, and thus you have at least 70% of the North American populace taking everything on Banks and Springer seriously.

I don't see a need for extraordinary amounts of butthurt here. People are going to think what they're going to think, and that's that. The kind of people this show would have an influence on are scarcely the audience you would seek furry approval from in the first place. Every time this kind of thing surfaces (and it's not the first time by any stretch) people get all pissed off that they might be lumped in with the "freaks". All of us are aware that we're a far step from normal, right?

Maybe I'm just unhinged, but I don't see a need to convince the world that furs are normal, because frankly, who wants to be normal anyway?
