An unfortunate turn of events... Indeed, it is. I find some peoples' behavior to be quite regrettable. To take advantage of one's own friends' sense of compassion, and to use that sense of compassion in order to try to undermine the administration of another site in order to further your own status... now, that's very low. New lows for those that are committing this act. It's absolutely vile of you to create a false personality and give this persona a horrible history in order to build a sense of compassion around her, and then turn her into a martyr on another forum over a simple misunderstanding. Thing is, there is no simple misunderstanding in this situation, as the persona in question is a complete falsehood in the first place. On to the details... Wahini, a member that was welcomed here with open arms as of her registration on April 29, 2008... has been found to be the creation of a former staff member at these very forums. She is the creation of SheWolf, the administrator of a newly founded forum that attempts to bill itself as a kinder, gentler place to spend your online time. How am I aware of this connection? IP addresses do not lie. Wahini's IP address matches perfectly with that of SheWolf's, who had recently become a member over at the furtopia.org forums. Wahini's tale of woe had overflowed to this forum, thanks to some of SheWolf's overzealous friends, and SheWolf followed the action in order to defend and reinforce her story. Like on this forum, where each of Wahini's posts records the IP that she had logged in from, SheWolf left unwittingly left behind her own footprint, the exact same IP that Wahini has always left here. And yes, it is a modem, not a proxy. I know how to read IPs and how they resolve themselves. Wahini would have had to have been in the same household as SheWolf for their IPs to match so perfectly, and they are not that close by all other indications. "Wahini" had posted her photo on this forum a short while ago... and it's validity was naturally challenged, mainly because of the professional photographer's watermark smack dab in the middle of it. My apologies, Harle, for any scolding you may have received over this issue. As it turns out, you had just cause to question this photo's validity. It was, after all, a lie. So... Wahini has been banned. That is obvious. SheWolf is not welcome here either, but that hasn't changed ever since she had ignorantly tossed insults at people that did not deserve her negative attention about a year and a half ago. SheWolf's friends... well, they will stand on their own merits. I will not warn or ban any of them for their involvement in this, as they were blindly led by someone that they trust. What SheWolf hopes to gain by trashing furry.ca via this story of hers, I have no idea. As most furs know, we've had our problems on occasion over the years, but this site has a way of surviving. Despite the people that try to bring us down, we stand strong. We keep our heads level. We prevail. We are Canadian, after all. That's what we do best. SheWolf... if you manage to read this, and I'm sure someone will pass this along to you... You've hit new lows. Being female, I am astonished that you'd create a story where your character was a victim of a brutal rape, and to attempt to use that story of compassion as a means to distance your own site from others. That is so utterly vile and there are no words that could describe how utterly pathetic you are. You disgust me. I know you don't care if I am disgusted with you, but I don't particularly care. You don't even rate as human, nor wolf, nor anything that can rub two brain cells together. Thank you for reading this through if you have. I apologise to anyfur for the drama that has led up to this and any that may follow. I'm sure there'll be plenty more to come. I stand solid in my position, knowing that this site and forum has been attacked in a most vile and malicious manner. I'm sure the LOLfurries will have their lulz with this one. You fellas have SheWolf to thank for that! Anyways... On with the furryness... Benjamin

This... is not what I would come to expect from Shewolf... she seemed a good enough person from the little that i had talked to her and read from her online posts oh so long ago now...
but that she would make up such things all in some hope to promote her and demote this site.... for shame, Shewolf... for shame.

hey ben, A few of us knew the photograph was fake. It was an obvious fake, I actually spoke with the photographer and the photograph was taken in australlia in 2005 where the model was 15. This is the stock site and page it actually came from: http://www.dreamstime.com/Kelliem_more-latest-adition_pg10But this is alot to take in, i'm gonna sit on it and respond when more words come to mind.

I don't think Shewolf would do that. Its possible that her and Wahini IP are the same because of them being in the same area. But that doesn't mean that Shewolf is posing as her. I know Shewolf too well, this is not something she would pull and if she did she would be honest with me and would have told me of it for a fact.
Can sephern or anyone else on staff confirm this truth besides yourself?

It's the exact same IP, Drake. That means it came from the same modem. That means it came from the same house. The same account. You know this as well as I do. This wouldn't be the first time that SheWolf has taken advantage of furs' trust. I know this from personal experience. Benjamin

Then explain to me how I banned shakar's IP address from fur4u and ended up tagging Shewolf by accident? Its DHCP.

lest someone broke into her house and used her computer (or a wireless connection, but i think that provides a different IP? not to sure) either way i dont see that as a reasonable possibility

You would have either used a wildcard in the IP to catch a block of them or maybe phpBB's ban tools are less than effective. Shakar's IP is quite different from SheWolf's and changes frequently. Wahini's and SheWolf's are consistent and report exactly the same IP. Benjamin

Well there isn't much to go on then, unless there's some amazing screenshot or others have seen this in action.

Believe what you will, Drake. I'm well aware of how you feel about SheWolf. I don't expect to persuade you to betray your trust in her, however you may want to re-evaluate it. I do have evidence I can show you, but I doubt you'd even accept that. Benjamin

You want me to believe, give me a remote access to the logs. When I see the untainted proof then I will believe it. But I doubt you'll do that.

I don't have to give you remote access to anything, Drake. That'd be a serious security issue, after all. Do you seriously think I would give that sort of access to SheWolf's right hand dog? Don't try to play me for a fool. SheWolf's already done that to you in the first place. Anyways... You've been caught on a repeat offense of linking to a competing site from your sig. It's against the rules and you're responsible to know those rules. This isn't the first time you've done it. So good bye! Sorry for the bad timing on it... but it's not like I'd convince you to believe me, anyways. Benjamin

Count me as saddened at such immature behaviour. And I can't even see the reason behind it.

I am greatly saddened by all of this. This matter isn't being handled too maturely and it should be. Ben, you should have let sleeping dogs lie and should not have posted this. It only will make matters worse. If this matter was left alone, this "issue" wouldn't have been an issue in a matter of days. You are making a mountain out of a molehill. It doesn't matter wether or not everything about Wahini was true or wether it was SheWolf or not. There was no reason to bring more attention to this than neccessary. You're certainly taking the low-road to this...

Fenris, it's not a big deal if someone has an alter-ego. Lots of people do it. It DOES become a big deal when they use it to bash another board, or use it in a way that decieves people in a negative way.
The whole thing really surprised me, to be honest. I didn't expect to come home to such sillyness.
Cheers, -Sephren

I'm quite suprised as well. I have no idea what started it or anything but as I see it it's just being made too much of a big deal. The posts should have been deleted then ignored. It shouldn't have been addressed in such a way. That's my point of view anyways.

i agree that it shouldn't have turned into such a big deal either. However it turned into a MASSIVE deal at the other site. I believe thats why ben is posting this in response, because some of the members there did use the situation of the photo to bash this site. and the way it's coming to light now is that instead of those members using the photo as an oppritunity to spread slander, they possibly CREATED the oppritunity to spread slander.
It was a big deal there from the get go, thats why it's so iffy.

I'm just hoping this all blows over and all furs learn to take things with a grain of salt. I don't like controversy....
My thoughts still stand though.
