I had an idea. What about making a battle-racing game featuring furries? We could throw cookies!
In the past, a fur form Texas tried to start an mmorpg, it eventually failed, but I made much of the music and sound effects in it.
The thing is that I am pretty serious about this. There is some very talented people in the furry community. I've seen awesome 3d modelers, awesome programmers and just plainly awesome artists. If for one time, we could assemble all of what we can do, to make something that all the furry community in the world will appreciate?
If there is enough resources, I'll create a sourceforge project.
-Atoma, waiting for your answers!

Throwing cookies takes exquisitely detailed and careful animation. It's not something to take lightly. The subtle nuances of the rearing back and the hurling of the cookie... the crumbs flying off... it'll be tricky to get right.

I'd love to see more furry-ish games, but don't most kart racing games already have quite a few characters that could be considered "furry"?

Myself and a friend made furry sprites for Doom. It was epically awesome.

Depending on the time and input required, I'd love to get involved.
I'm a somewhat accomplished software engineer (read: programmer) and have experience with a number of languages and good programming practice.
I also have oodles of webspace and moderate to good web skills to host an online presence for the project as well.

I know a few furs that are into modeling and programming sorts (the lot of them: have a lot of know-how, and experience behind their belts)... so it would be interesting to see something like this happen. If the community gathered enough support, it could gain in popularity soon enough. I'm learning how to rig 3D stuffs in Blender, giving myself a walk through a few online tutorials, which have helped me along the way. If I could put my learning to good use, I'd shoot for this ~ZevDawg

Also, I forgot to mention:
I do have a server that I've been debating the uses for... It's an HP/Compaq Proliant ML370R02 G2 PIII 5U Rackmount server. Currently it's sitting here in my house, awaiting upgrades (currently with 1 1.2Ghz PIII processor, (6) SCSI 18.5GB hard drives @10k RPM, and a mere 256MB RAM).
I have two 1.44Ghz processors that are ready to be installed in it. Upgrades to RAM and Hard Disk space will be made soon as well (going for 6GB of SDRAM, as well as upgrading to near 1TB of hard disk storage, in RAID 5). There are a few service providers in Edmonton (that host a T1 dedicated server line), as far as server hosting goes. One that I'm interested in, would allow me to bring in my own server. Though I think they charge extra for a 5U unit. I'd be able to host quite a bit from this bad boy ^^

One thing I'd like to say about a project like this is that first off, you need a concept / idea. While saying "We want to make a furry game!" is awesome and well-intentioned, you'll get a different crowd of people who are looking to say, make a furry RPG than a crowd of people that want to make a furry FPS. Once you have a genre, there's a lot of other things to look at. Implementation, existing software / games that are similar, the technologies and the required roles to be filled to implement it, 3D or 2D, story-based or free-form. We could very well make a new and improved Furcadia, but would we want to, or even be interested in competing?
Something like this will need to build a group mindset from the start, amassing skills from across the board, and work together on a concept to ensure that everyone involved is equally as enthused about the idea, knowing that they had a good deal of influence on its creation.

Did I mention kart? We're not limited to karts (also you all forgot Skunny Kart) A bit of trivia: it seems that Copysoft stole the Wacky Wheels engine to make Skunny Kart. http://rinkworks.com/apogee/s/2.8.9.shtml

Well;
If you end up needing concept art for any reason or character writeups, etc, I'd be happy to help.
That would be a neat idea if you had a crew together and a solid idea to work from.

Sure. I'm farting around with something at the moment. I think it'd work.

Go for it. For once, I'd like to NOT be the person who volunteers to build the forum. I've built... 6 or 7 for different projects and groups and I'm tired of seeing them going down the drain.
