I don't write much anymore, but I thought that I would start this up, just in case I'm hit with a sudden and crippling sense of inspiration anytime soon.

One of my old ones.

Abstract Dancer

Perfection imperfect, a fragile game of guise and cloak
Minutely faltering beyond the view of all
Teetering precariously on the serrated blade of reason
With upheld breath and ashen pall

Inherently self-taught in the arts of lies and form
An actress on the tightrope with sure and steady feet
With sultry glory and silken promises bewitching
And a façade as delightful as a childhood sweet

The malicious air of man had wafted past, effecting stellar balance
Her collarbone trembling as her mask begins to crack
The flawless mirage wavering in tandem with her confidence
Unable to go forward but unwilling to go back

Dilemma; that which was can never be again
What is lost is much better left forgotten
Nor can the ballerina become an abstract dancer
T'is better to accept it than to be most woe begotten

The wire line is blurring, obscured by way of diamond drops
But she remains resigned to the laws of what must be
The old standards are lost as the pedestal crumbles
And for the debut crossed finale the actress tumbles free

Imagery both spare and rich, and wordcraft both spacious and spartan in all the right places.  Your structural skill and imagery technique reminds me quite a bit of the work of Edith Sitwell.  Perhaps her most famous piece was "When Cold December"  I'm not sure if you're familiar with it.

Thank you for the compliment, Wotan. ^^

No, I'm afraid I've never heard of that peom or the poet.
Just means I'll be putting my browser to work when I log off tonight.

Very interesting imagery, as Wotan mentioned.  The first thought that came to mind here was actually the subject of anorexia, but then it later modified into 'lost virginity'.

Interesting work; do keep posting.  Smiley
