The mouth and eye on your second picture are calm and soft.  If you were to work on something, I would suggest it being the ambiguous shapes; it almost looks as if the character has two sets of ears, and the legs appear slightly odd, as if they have extra 'bumps' that can't quite be placed.  Otherwise, the lines are solid (especially in the hair and face shapes), and the pose is decently challenging.  Do keep it up; always room for progress!
