Everytime I go looking for foam, I can only find really thin stuff for upolhstry, and it's super expensive.

I often see people make fursuit heads with loads of foam, but where does everyone find all this stuff?

I really want to make my own fursuit, but I'm lost...

I get mine from Wal-mart. It comes in two sizes. It's pretty cheap. comes in squares. The big one is 3 inches thick and the small one is 2.
Here's a picture of the two. I've already cut into them, but when they're whole, they are perfectly square.

Most fursuits that I see that are made by the 'professionals' use green foam, but I don't really see what the difference is (other than the color). The white foam works just fine.

Aye, I used to get mine from Wal-Mart as well, until they did away with the fabric section.... O_o

I know; I was actually pretty choked.  Now instead of $10 for a block, it'll be about $50 at FabricLand.

WoW! So I was lucky to find a load of foam at work that were going to go to the trash! It's tin, It's not exactly what I wanted, But, The Base of the head is done with some alf inch foam... I would never had bought material for experimentation tho... But, I herd here at Brick it's pretty cheap... Dunno of you have a Brick where you are!
