Seems the board is chock full of Vancouver Island stuff these days. But here's another one! Smiley

June 6th @ 6pm til June 7th @ 6pm
The Ramada Inn *in* Nanaimo
$10 donation for room GREATLY appreciated

Sure, I'm a little early, but I wanted to hear some ideas while they're still fresh in everyone's heads. I heard some excellent talk about icebreakers, artist games, and concessions (i.e. the snack table), and would like people to start dropping them in this thread in preparation for next month. I'll add mine in a bit here.

Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone have any problem with me taking up the reigns again? We might get Torwin back next month if his work is cooperative, but I think he deserves to chill at one of these meets. Also, I really enjoyed organizing and looking after everyone. I consider you all my pack, so to speak, and I'd fight tooth and nail to get you all a great meet. Hopefully I've proven to you that I can do this with the success of this past meet.

Let the discussions begin!

Ideas put forward at the previous meet included:

~ Some kind of icebreaker. Not one of those horrible "Let's all sit in a circle and introduce ourselves" things, but a game or something, like   Pictionary. This gets everyone interacting. (Thanks Ruby)

~ Reintroducing: The Snack Table. I think bowls of candy and such would be a great idea. If we get slightly more furs next time and slightly more donations from those extra furs, we could even get the cost of that covered under the $10 donations, which adds to the neutrality of the meet, i.e. no one fur feeling overburdened. We'll see though. My monetary situation should look better by June, so snacks shouldn't be hard to procure even before anyone brings the donations. (Thanks numerous people!)

~ Possible pot-luck meal or something? I noticed one thing we all do is eat, and we all kind of drift in and out in groups to get eats, but that doesn't mean that we *all* go out to these places. Some furs don't have the cash to afford it, and there is a lack of vehicle space to get us all to one particular location. I thought the best way to include everyone is have everyone bring some food. I can provide plates and utensils etc, and it doesn't have to be fancy, but it would be cool. Then we could tail that into our nightly movie.

~ Movies! Why don't we set up a TV or laptop in a corner with some sound attached, and run movies on it constantly throughout the night? That gives people a place to chill and relax, and provides a "background activity". We can commandeer this for our regular early-morning movie that seems to be becoming a trend.

That's all I got right now, not all of them were mine obviously as noted. Comment, discuss, or add.

I have craploads of awesome zombie/fur-related DVD's I could bring, which topics all the furs seem to be keen on. ;3 I also have a bunch of *coughlegallycough* downloaded Movies and Television series that I could throw on a thumbdrive, and we could play them on the 360, or a laptop.
Also, as stated before, it shouldn't be a problem for us to contribute some snackin's. I have an obsession with Root beer, and Blarky with Iced tea - more than likely, that's what we'll be bringing. Tongue Chips and such are also very doable.
As for the potluck dinner idea, I don't know how much we'd be able to contribute to that - we're roughly a two hour bus ride away, and in that time, most noms wouldve become.. stale, to say the least. We'll try and find some sort of easy recipe that can outlast the bus trips, also, if we could possible be picked up at Woodgrove, it would save us about an hour of bussing drudgery.
I'll fetch my sketchbooks when I go home this weekend, and see what we can do about art. I know the majority of us have some sort of artistic ability, so we could set up a little station of some sort, to do trades and the such. :3 It'd be the highlight of my night, for sure. Even stickfurs, for those less endowed, would be brilliant.
I look forward to us meeting every month, you guys are my second family. Love you all.

If the same night person is working this time someone should explain what we are. I think she thinks we are all into some creepy fetish or something. She was always eyes front when we would walk by and never came in to give us more water. I think when someone called and was told that we were in the room doing "something" confirmed that Tongue

Yeah, that someone who called was me. The lady in the morning was like "They're, uh, *doing* something, and I don't want to disturb them." and I was like "Er, okay..." because I couldn't imagine what that something was that wasn't just normal group stuff...I have hence learned that someone was making armpit farting noises, very loud. Tongue
So, for the artist thing, I kind of suggested maybe some little tips and tricks from the artists, if anyone has questions about improving their art. I also really like the idea of trades and stuff! It might make me a little more inclined to do more art Tongue
As for food, I'd be cool bringing some stuff, 'cause I like cooking. I make cookies and muffins too, so I thought that would be good...y'know, nummy stuff to keep us all going for the night!

Oh, and Veekahr, I also REALLY like Rootbeer, so bring LOTS! Smiley

Yes, rootbeer is good.

I will be needing a way to get up to Nanaimo for this, so if anyone is willing to give a ride for some furs in Victoria that would be great, and I will be able to contribute some gas money. How is Pixel going to get up there?

I have a NES with Contra and Super C now, and a bunch of games that work with the NES Zapper, so I will bring that if possible. I also might be replacing it with the NES 2 top-loader, so we don't have to deal with the cartridges not loading and blowing on them all the time.

Mhmm, been away for the last few meets, so I might try going to this one as I might be moving & not able to go again for quite awhile(damn monies), though kinda worried I'll be so out of date. A ride would be great, but might be able to con parents/sis into it....
Art table sound slike a great idea! Specially if a few ppl can offer tips or quick pics of those without fursona pics. Might be able to help out on that....
Could bring some snacks & blankets?

Are you able to get Contra on that? Gumshoe, Gotcha!, other light gun games?

I've also recently acquired a Sega Genesis.

I have some games of interest, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Dinosaurs for Hire. Also I have the whole series of Ecco the Dolphin games which are currently being shipped.

So I'll bring the Genesis if I'm able to make it.

For DS I have Pokemon Pearl, Cooking Mama 2, Bubble Bobble, Trauma Center 2, Mario64 DS.. many, many more. In short if you have a DS, bring it, and some games if you wanna. :3
