Okay, it's official:

May 2nd, 2009
5pm to May 3rd 2pm
At The Ramada Inn

This time around, we have a few things to announce. First and foremost, Torwin won't be with us. I've decided to play host this time so that there's a meet to go to. I need an RSVP in this thread for your attendance. Smiley If you don't RSVP, I won't know to expect you.

Second, we need donations guys! Last time around a few furs (Torwin, myself and Zeph) got stuck with a fairly large portion of the bill for the Ramada because there simply wasn't enough donations to pay anywhere near the $200 it costs to rent. It only takes 20 furs with $10 each to make this work. Anything extra will get put into a pool for snack monies. I'm not in this to see a profit, but it's not fair to expect certain furs to foot the bill.

Third: Not that this needs to be said, but please, if you're bored, don't hang around outside near the hotel. You can read what happened in last month's thread, but due to some fairly innocent mischief, we caused a lot of trouble for the hotel and the Nanaimo RCMP. If this happens again, I doubt the hotel will want us coming back, so again, put your best paw forward.

That's really all that needs to be said. If furs want to rent out a suite upstairs as in the past, feel free to do so (works out to be $100 a room or something similar), so bring some extra cash to split the cost amongst yourselves. I'm really short on cash right now, so I'll only be contributing $10, the same as I expect from the rest of the furs attending.

If we get a really low headcount (under 10 people, for example) by Friday, then we'll have to postpone until next month, because I simply can't afford the overrun. Any furs that have bus tickets in the event the meet is cancelled are welcome to hole up at my pad with Runemist and Scavello. We're pretty accomodating furs.

Post away your questions and comments.

well ill say this right off the bat, chances are your not gonna get 10 people on this forum who are going to say they are coming, there is only a handful of people who post on this forum on a regular basis that attend the meets.

But there is me, jared, ruby, Bluevulp and maybe his mate who are coming from port, thats 5, +pixel, you and im sure we are going to get atleast 10 more at the min. ill split whatever is left unpaid for if there any outstanding amount left need be. I would just suggest that you keep track of how much money is needed to break even on the white board in the room, might encourage people to pitch in.

Myself, Blarky, and Rhe will be attending as well. :3 Look forward to it. Blarky and I will do our best for donations (as neither of us have been able to find a job), and I'm 90% sure Rhe is planning on contributing. The last couple meets, Blarky and I have brought snacks to share, which might be more doable than actual money donations.. in any case, I'll let you know via MSN how much we're able to get our paws on.
As always, we're also bringing some 360 games and a controller - and our newly acquired giant stuffed lion, Cheeseburger, will be coming as well, to accommodate any sleepyfurs. :3
Also, it should go without saying how much we appreciate you doing this for us, Drew. Thank you.

(EDIT: Oh gawdd I need to go to sleep >>)

Including Drew, I've got a count of around 12 furs coming to this meet that have actually said they are going to. If that is correct, and all of us can donate $10, we're getting close to our goal. We need $80 more, and then we wouldn't have any kind of deficit or putting a hefty sum on one person. It'd say we're doing pretty good.
Unfortunately, I work all weekend, and of course it's all afternoon shifts, so I don't get much time to spend at the meet...but I think it would be a lovely idea for us to sit down together and talk about the future of our furmeets, and see how we can make them a little more interesting. Who knows? Perhaps we could attract more furs that way, too!

Please note: the times have been changed a bit. 5pm is the new opening time, 2pm is the time I'd like everyone to have their rides and everything else ready to go by, so I have opportunity to get to work and close up shop. Smiley Thanks everyone! Hope to see you there!

 Shades What a huge success!

I want to thank each and every one of you who came out to the May Meet. I think most people left pretty satisfied with the meet. We've got some ideas to try for activities and ways to keep busy next time too, so we can continue to evolve the format.

I was also ecstatic that almost everyone donated $10! This helps substantially! No one fur had to be reponsible for large portions of the bill, which allowed us to focus on other things rather than worry about the monies. Again, thanks everyone! If we want to get the ball rolling on new ideas and an ongoing discussion, I think we can do that in the "Furture of VI Fur Meets" thread, and maybe I'll post the June thread a little early to help with that.

This wolf is satisfied, and confident we can do this again. Smiley

Very nice everyone, was great!

I would also like to add that I have redesigned the Vifurs website! After talking to people at the last fur-meet I have droped php-nuke for Wordpress, A more blog like web application. I have yet to fully work everything out but so far I like how it is looking.

I have dropped the Forum(For good, redirecting to this site possibly) and Members list(Temporary). So I shall be posting all of the local events to the site. They can be tracked via RSS 2.0 or Email subscription(Soon...) the original website was way to cluttered and a pain, Hopefully this new one well provide a quick glance for people who do not use the furry.ca forum, or for new people who are interested in attending.

www.vifurs.com

I'm also planning on adding a gallery in the future, and if anyone would be interested in writing up a "Monthly Fur-meet" page that would be cool, just something outlining the monthly fur-meets and what we do along with what is expected. This would be a good place for rules to be listed along with What to bring and the donations we request. Or ill do it myself, I just kinda suck at info pages ^^

By the way, I picked up a few items left behind. Vee's blanket (black and brown diamonds on one side, black on the other), a nondescript black wrist band with a couple metal bits in it (not sure to whom this belongs) and Pixel's power brick for the outlets. Just so nobody's worried. Smiley
