so for some time now i have wanted to make a fursuit, a Lion fursuit to be specific, i would really appreciate some suggestions, even some instructions, comparisons, and any other help on how to make one. just so you know i have little sewing experience, and i am hoping to make a mouth that moves((if i can do that non electronically)), i am hoping for it to be relatively light yet resistant, and i am planning on this fursuit being permanent, ill use super great quality fibers. if anyone wants to give me links, tips, ect it would be VERY much obliged.
edit: okay i have actually made a big change to my whole furry status, i have changed back to my original fursona, Nap, a demonic lion. so my fursuit will be lion((changed post))

If it's your first try and you lack sewing experience, I'd recommend starting with a partial to avoid having to sew the bodysuit. It should be too difficult to construct one later if you want, provided that you're not using super rare fur colours. It'll also allow for more airflow, which is good if it's your first suit since it seems to be the norm for people to overexert themselves when they start out. A great place to check out for tutorials and help is the fursuit LJ group since they've got an excellent selection of useful posts about pretty much everything. Not that we can't provide help, too. ;3 Are you planning for a toony or realistic style? That can really affect how you go about construction.

i dont have a set deadline for the fursuit, so im going to take it slow and steady. and semi realistic with toony accents would be perferred, i want the whole thing to kind of be universal and too realistic would feel almost restricting for the character, and super toony would not be serious enough, Barra is a semi realistic being too much of either would ruin the whole personality make up.

Okay, I see. In that case, you'll probably want to aim for using either foam or a casting method like Beetlecat or Temperance (who has a few threads here that may be of some help), since plastic mesh doesn't usually allow for as much detail. Right now, Wula and I are working on a way to use semi-toony style tracking eyes with Temp's head-making method, which may be of use to you depending on how you want to go about your eyes. Judging from the image you posted in another thread, he'll make for an interesting suit. :3
