I think this would be a great place to list all of the non-furry events that some of us are interested in. I, for instance, am a BIG fan of the Toronto Roller Derby. http://www.torontorollerderby.com/This year's running should be starting soon, but I don't have any word on actual dates! Anyone else have a niche event that they want to share?

To be honest, I wish I lived in Toronto or Ottawa. Nova Scotia is to dull for me. I am a city boy and Halifax is the biggest city we have but there's so many events in Ontario and so little here

I try to go to pow wows on occasion, myself. I haven't been to any yet this year, but maybe I'll make it to one or two this summer. Sudbury usually has one on First Nations Day. Benjamin

Out in Edmonton me and my dad head out to the dragstrip/racetrack just of out town and have a race weekend. It is about 45 minute drive there from the house, and it takes abotu 30 mins to unpack the car trailer. The car a 1969 Chevy Nova, around 800 horsepower it does a 9.25 seconds in a 1/4 mile at 149 miles an hour. I am his crew cheif as well as the crew, but it fun.

I don't really have the luxury of being anywhere near events like these, so I will just mirror Dogboy's desire to move somewhere more interesting.
Saint John acts like a big city, it has the atmosphere of a big city, but the illusion only lasts until you walk for fifteen minutes in any direction from the uptown area. Then you realize, oh, this is it.
You ought to feel lucky, Dogboy. Halifax will be my next home, if I've got any say in it. It'd be nice to be in the big city and go to events like these, but I have to admit, I think I'd miss being on the ocean. =P

Well this is as good a topic as any. Would any BC furries be interested in a day/afternoon at the Peace Arch park? It would be a great way to mingle with your neighbors without needing a passport. The sculpture exhibition is open now and I'm sure there's room for activities involving Frisbees and such.

If anyone is in the Windsor area you can always check out: Art In The Park - June 7th - June 8th at Wilistead Park. Admission $5/adult. Freedom Festival - this goes on a for about a week along the river at the end of June, beginning of July and it ends with fireworks. The neat thing is, if you have a passport you can go visit the Detroit side for more festival fun.
I would have loved to go to Anime North in Toronto - I also want to go check out the comic and sci-fi one too. Also one of these days I want to try out one those art retreats. There is one that takes you to a place on the west coast to look at mountains and glaciers!

Whats the race schudule for there and when is the indy race this year? There is drag strip about 2 hours form where I am but haven;t been to an event in years, Plenty of Show and shines though, there is a huge one downtown Saskatoon every August and the Super Run is here this year as well.

Maybe because the Greater Toronto Area has 5 million residents? BC in general, as of 2004, had 4.2 million residents total. O_o You pack all of BC into a single city and see how many cons and anime events you have then. PS. This is TOTALLY not a jibe at BC. It's an awesome place, just the concentration of people isn't sufficient to have as many big events as Toronto or Ottawa.

*sighs* in this redneck town (city) the local S.C.A. gets the eyeball, i can't even think about what a fur meet would do to the tiny minds that live here.

Melt them, I think. Maybe we should organize one, I'd pay to see that.

you guys think your areas are boring? Try the Okanagan. We get 1 fair every yeah, and Summerland gets its annual "Lightup", which at first i thought was some sort of collective stoners day, but its when the community of summerland instantaniously lightup the streets near christmas with decorations . Theres a convention center in Penticton, ive NEVER seen anything outside of sports gathering happen there.
