Part of the reason I've come out of the lurking shadows of this place recently is that I want to meet new friends when I move to Van, and also that I want to start getting back into sewing furry-stuff. I would like to have some people to be sewing-buddies with IRL, preferably female- not to imply that guys can't sew or anything, I'm just more comfortable casually hanging out crafting with girls. Of course, seeing as those are rare in these parts, a dude would do too as long as he can sew and we'd get along Smiley

I've been working on putting together a little online store, possibly through Etsy, and would also sell things at conventions. If you don't have a site already, maybe we could team up and sell stuff together? It would work especially well if we had different specialties- for example I can make awesome ears, paws, tails, and other accessories but I have no skills or interest in doing whole suits. I'm also starting to want to experiment with making plushies. I also dip into the realm of anime accessories, but I can't really sew full costumes yet.

This is more for a causal fun business than a serious business, but it could be fun and help get word around about the crafts you/we make. Working with other people is always more fun. I'm currently in Kelowna, but will be moving to the Vancouver area soon. If you want to be a sewing buddy, drop me a line at mistystargazer@shaw.ca ^_^

Well hey there, Misty;

It's too bad you didn't come around earlier!  Would have been fun to do some sewing stuff out in Kelowna.

I'm currently in Kamloops but generally in Oliver, so if you're ever nearby, I wouldn't mind meeting up and doing some stuff.  I'm out in Van every so often, too, but I rarely do any sewing out there because it's usually a social visit.

In the Vancouver are, I know AlanTabby is getting pretty serious into the sewing stuff, and might drop by to say something.

Cheers,

I... actually don't know where Oliver is ^^;; *looks it up* *can't find it on maps* o.O

I don't drive so I never really leave the town I'm in unless its to take a greyhound bus somewhere. Even though I'm moving soon I'll still be in Kelowna until at least may, and it would still be fun to get to know you better, especially since people in BC tend to visit other parts of BC now and again. If you have AIM or MSN feel free to add me ^_^

Hehe Lady Sepent is right that I dropped by...ooh scary.

I live over on Van Island though so a lil far for ya.  And I mostly make paws/tail/ear & have made some clothing. Would admit having a friend around would be great while hand sewing paws. Hope ya find one!

As Wula mentioned, I sew a fair bit when I get the chance. Regular clothes, cosplay, and, as of late, ears, tails, and paws. I've also made one partial suit (no footpaws) and have starting working on puppet-style puppets, as well.

Hey there, Misty;

Heh, heh.  Oliver's a small town between Osoyoos and Penticton.  I forgot that many people from Vancouver don't usually know where it is.  Smiley

That'd be nice, yea.  I'll be back in Oliver (2 hours out of Kelowna) I'm actually hoping to take a season off in a few years to just focus on making fursuits and plushies, so if by that point you're still sewing, we might be able to reconsider your idea.  Smiley  Work actually takes me right through Kelowna every weekend in July and August, if you're still there by then.  It's very flexible work, so I could drop by sometime if you havn't moved.

Cheers;

It seems like we have a lot of sewing talent in BC, doesn't it? I got started sewing ears and tails because my friends and I weren't happy with any of the ones being sold so, as I usually do, I learned to do it myself. I could already sew a little bit before then, but its what got me interested in it again. I'm thinking thats how most of us got started? "If I want something to look exactly how I want it, I guess I'll have to learn how to make it myself" ?

Pashnewka and Alan Tabby- We wouldn't be able to hang out and sew but it would still be cool to get to know you and chat about sewing and furryness and stuff ^^

Gracewolf- I'm pretty sure I know who you are now, if I'm right then I've seen some examples of costumes you've made before and they were gorgeous and very well done!

Lady Serpent- I'm in the Okanagan and have been here a couple years now, but still didn't know where Oliver was. I do, at least, know where Osoyoos and Pentiction are at least so I think I understand what you're saying XD Taking a season off to sew sounds like fun, good luck!

I can sew sufficiently, but my forte is leather or metal.

Kona, my wife also sews (and is a fur) so you could hang out with us.
