The extension to that is I(a) and I(b) making little I(ab). They could have made little I(c), but they wanted a little copy of their "if" selves. I(a) wanted to be a if(doctor) and I(b) wanted to be a if(golf pro). Instead, they became grocery store clerks, found each other, humped in the back room, and made a little I(_). Little I(ab) was groomed to be a golfing doctor, even though little I(c) hated golf and had an innate fear of blood. I(c) lost all but if(golfing doctor) and became I(ab).
