It's that time again, the VIfurs are meeting again in Nanaimo B.C., Same place as always, if you need a ride, contact me, i'll post info below. For anyone coming from Vancouver, be sure it's set to arrive at Departure bay, since it's less than 5 mins from the hotel, i'll be shuttling people from there. If you are taking a bus into Nanaimo, the greyhound station is also near, so one of us will grab you too! As usual i'll take care of Video entertainment equipment, but feel free to bring DVD's etc (I'll have a 360 there too if you want to bring games or even other systems!) We encourage people to bring something in the way of munchables, anything helps, chips, pop, etc. For those that are feeling especially generous, any donations help to keep the meets going strong, if everyone brings 10-15 bucks we'll be completely covered, i don't expect this to happen but just throwing it out there Tongue, I'll be in town with Alan about 5:15ish depending on weather/traffic. It'll be a fun night of Gaming, Movies, Drawing, Chatting and of course....Fursuiting ^_^.

PLEASE! don't hesitate to contact me at:

I might be at the Departure Bay Ferry with WolfSong or if the snow is too bad for me to go to Vancouver on the planned date, then yeah I'll need a ride from home to furmet *crosses paws* please no more snow!

As for changing hotels, maybe NightFox & the other locals can scout out a few for us?

Personally I think we should start to require payment to get in, because I hate to see you have to pay for it all. But if its 170 for 6 people thats 30$ each and that is kinda steep. is that just for a basic 6 person room?  I though I remember something about it being like, 170$ + like 10$ extra per person. If that was the case 10 people like last time would be just over 20$ each.

Another option would be to start earlier during the day, and maybe find a small hall we could rent out. Would not be as comfortable as a hotel room...but then we could make noise and not worry about sneaking in/out. ill see if I can find some prices on rental halls and such for private party's.

Heres an example of more what we should be looking for.

Now mind you, thats the Grandhotel in Nanaimo so it would be rather pricey, but something like that rented out during the day would be perfect and I imagine cheaper then a room(Maybe not in this case, I can't find any prices yet)

The TravelLodge meeting hall & room sunds great.  Problem is alot of us still have to sleep over & 1 bed isn't gonna cut it plus they only let so many ppl stay.  Gotta make sure we have space to sleep as well as party.   Also we start later in the day cause Torwin doesn't get off till 4:30.

More then 6 ppl will be sleeping over most likely just like last time(hehe sneaky furries), so money should be fine if everyone helps out.

Be nice if we could find someone with a house to host, I'd offer but don't think Ducan is the best place & friskiness would be a no no.

I was not aware of the meeting room, i had asked and they hadn't mentioned it, lol. It APPEARS as though the main problem is staying overnight, hotels only charge for ppl staying etc, bed, extra charges, noise troubles blah blah blah...you get it...anyway, we MIGHT  be able to move the meets to sundays, and have it all day, rather than start at 5, lol, that way we could avoid extracharges and late night complaints, if we had a day meet, at least until we find a house might actually work, if we get a banquet hall or a meeting room, we can be load, go nuts, and be able to go out and harass local stores and malls in fursuit Tongue, Sunday works for everyone as far as i know, let me know if not, but if you've been coming to the meets then you've been with us half of sunday anyway XD. Most meeting rooms range from $75-$95 for up to 25 ppl, it kinda makes sense really, i might even hunt something down for the next meet and just cancel the hotel, i dunno yet, i'l keep you all updated, make sure everyone is checking in on here if any of you talk to others ^_^

Cheers

Another great success!!, we had over 18 furs at the latest meeting of ViFur at the Travelodge Nanaimo. Things got a bit tight, and a bit loud...and a innocent bed was destroyed (literally) but everyone had a great time Gaming, Watching movies and hanging out. A new Fursona Drawing game (Thanks Alan!) was passed around to much success. It never fails to stir me, looking around the room to see so many furs, from so many places coming together. I want to thank everyone for coming, some are mere blocks from the place others come from the Mainland, Port Alberni, Victoria...all over, from something i thought was dead 4  months ago, when Alan was the only Fur on the island i had known, to this! I truly hope everyone had fun, and I apologize for having to keep you all quiet (quite the feat, to be sure). With the expansion of our furry family some of you have heard talk of changes coming, this is something i'm working on and looking into. A larger and better equipped convention center, i'm unsure if such a thing runs overnight, so if not, we would be looking at a day meet, but i'll keep you posted!, i'm rambling on, lastly I want to thank the furs chipping in for the costs of running the meet, your donations help incredibly, including those who rented separate rooms, if not for us renting three rooms, they probably would have tossed most of us out! so again, thankyou, you've made my life a bit easier and less stressful. I'm sorry if i act a little odd at such things, i don't mean to worry anyone, i'm quite alright. I just have the habit of having to make sure everything is ok and to do everything in my power to make it ok. I'm not much of a leader, I'm more of a herder, kinda comes natural to me (right..collie..duh XD). So if I seem a bit protective of you, it's only because I consider you my herd and family.

until next time, take care everyone, be well and be happy

Torwin, if my head could emit tiny 8-bit hearts, they would be yours. I had a freaking GREAT time, met so many awesome people, got to rock some bands, watch the first half of sweeney todd, and all-in-all good times.

See ya'll next month.

It was a meet well done big guy =3

Got to know a number of great peeps, and found a great friend/animator during the meet itself, which I'm thankful for as well n.n

You've shown a lot of courage in taking the huge responsibility of reviving the VIfur community in general, so I'd like to believe and hope that if there's any way that the rest of us can help, be it through action, morale or finance, we should do what we can =D

Will be seeing you again next month.

In the mean time, to everyone who went to the VIfurmeet, take care, be true and stay well! =)

Love and Peace,
~Zephy

Right!, I've spent most of the day scouting out Nanaimo for a new meeting place, I also returned to the Travelodge to thank the manager for dealing with us, she was sorry to see us go surprisingly enough XD. Anyway, I checked out the Grand Hotel, and they're a bit too Grand for us, at $600 bucks a day >_>, after some more hunting I found others that are better suited for us. It's a toss up between Long Lake Resort, which is farther into town and more pricey than the other one i'll mention in a moment. The other one being the New Ramada, about 2 blocks up from Travelodge, or a block down from out favorite Seven Eleven or across from the Whitespot roughly, you should have a basic idea where it is Tongue. It's much better than the other two in my opinion, but I will list some prices, pro's and con's below:

The Grand Hotel Nanaimo:$600 for 8 hours of use in their meeting room, no outside food allowed-tons of rules, blah blah blah.....phail- Single room for sleep overs 150 bucks

The Long Lake Resort-8 hour use of meeting room-$129 but can only be used between 9am and 10pm, single room is also $129-Right between two guest rooms-complaints waiting to happen >_>

Ramada Hotel-8 hour use $99-OR 24 hours for $169 (That's unlimited use, so we would have it from say 5pm Sat to 5pm Sun), ground floor, not near any guest rooms-large space, has tables and chairs and a projection screen! (Hell Yea!). Single rooms are $110 (and 15 bucks per extra person) unless you have a CAA card in which case it's $99 the only rule is no Alcohol, which is fine, because I don't want to deal with you guys drunk anyway XD. We can bring in our own munchies etc, it's closer to the 7-11 and the list goes on...plus! we get a little sign in the lobby telling ppl what going on Tongue-In my opinion, this is our best bet and a sure winner.

Furthermore, there are no beds, but since most of you were standing in the hallway or sitting on the ground at the last meet, I see no problem, there are tables for art and activities and upright chairs, no sofa's or stuffy armchairs i'm afraid, but again, I see little problem, i have a bean bag chair i can bring, they sell them at Walmart, i might pick up a few more, who knows mebbe we can find an inflatable couch or something! XD. As for sleeping, those that DO sleep (I know most of you were forced to go to bed last time because of noise) we could probably bring air mattresses, foamies and sleeping bags? w/e you think will make you comfortable, I leave it up to you. I'll bring some stuff to be used too. Space is the big winner here, and we have lot's of it, the room will hold a max of 55 furs.

I'd like to hear some feedback from as many of you as I can, I realize it's still a bit pricey, I personally prefer the 24 hour idea, and those that chipped in last time actually donated enough to pay for the room, with 40 bucks extra to pay on my credit card from the Dec meet!, so again, I see no problem.

Please let me know and feel free to ask any questions or concerns
