I agree. Hot glue and fingers is a really terrible combination.
What's that lining the inside bit?

Good shape. I've never seen that plastic material before. Is it floppy with such large holes? If you find it too floppy, there's always that cheap plastic mesh you can buy from almost any place that carries art supplies. They're less than a dollar at Wal-mart, if I recall correctly. Looks solid so far.. looking forward to seeing the progress on it! Cheers, -Lady Serpent

the lining is some old spare cloth, lovingly donated by my old favourite T-shirt. i may have to replace it in the future though as i think it could start to smell if i sweat all over it haha the white plastic is an eavesguard leaf stopper thingy i found in Rona. Its not too rigid and its just soft enough to be pinned in place and hold a good shape. as for that mesh, i have 3 sheets from walmart, turns out its a sewing mesh, its going to work well for the ears i hope hehe tonight im moving onto making the jaw and might even get some foam on there edit; i told my parents about me wanting to do this, as nervous about it as i was, they really dont mind, i actually had my mum with me today helping me find some materials rofl

Ah.. that's good to hear. I always feel that if you're honest about things, they generally work out better in the end.
Good luck with the rest of it.

I've never tried the plastic mesh method, but I always like to see people's progress when they try new things ^_^
It may be a good idea to buy a balaclava anyway. You can wear it under your head when suiting for some extra padding and sweat absorption. IT will help control the smell a little, since you can wash the balaclava as needed.
I've noticed most parents seem cool with helping people out with fursuit construction. I suppose it's no different than any other hobby, be it making model cars or painting... as long as you're doing the work, creative thinking and enjoying yourself.

i may have screwed myself out of the balaclava option. i think when i made the frame i did not allow much room for anything other than my noggin', its quite a snug fit as it is. I'm going to try a thin one out anyways, im sure i have one left over from my motorcycling days somewhere, i hope this will fit, but im not holding my breath :-p

Great job so far! The pictures of a new fursuit being made often creep me out a bit. It reminds me of one of those evil robot dolls or something ^^''''

... roughed on some markings, ready for da fur! Looks great! But do be careful where you write 'white' on the foam, some white furs have thin backings and the writing in black sharpie can be seen through the fur Its happened to me before. So once you get the patter all cut out, lay the fur on it and take it outside to see if it shows through BEFORE you glue and sew everything down. If it does show through simply take some very small sissors and shave the foam where the lettering is.

Neat concept for the eyes. You seem very creative!
What I would suggest is adding a white 'glare' on them with white paint; just a small circle of it in the upper right corners, over part of the pupil and part of the iris. (Same place on each eye). It could make them seem a bit more 'realistic'.
Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

I'm hoping the backing is sufficient, i have had a good look at it, seems pretty thick, but like you say, nothing a quick shave cant fix if its a problem the eyes...ah yes, I'm still not happy with them, especially when i see some other works and how i could have done them, but thats for another suit hehe. I don't suppose you have a picture or maybe a link to what the eyes look like with the added white marks? I sort of know what your talking about, but being able to see it somewhere before i start adding things to the mesh would be awesome thanks for the ideas in this topic, its been a great help so far!

wow i suck at updates so here is the latest round of images i have for my fellow fuzzies... added a fan to the muzzle for better air flow, the intake is through the 2 nostril holes. power pack location for said fan. 4x AA batteries should provide over an hour of use. had to hand sew these, couldn't get results i was happy with using the sewing machine. each glove took up to 4hrs. the finished product including paw pads made from cow leather. tail made from 2 fur strips, stuffed with pillow fibers and triple stitched for tug proofing. nose made from black coloured Fimo, the holes provide intake for the fan inside first fur added to the head, had to stop here though as i now need some clippers for the facial fur lol coming along slowly but surely
