Disclaimer: Ironclaw picked the name, I was going with 'AnthrOttawa'. Reguardless, the United Nations set laws in the early 80's that all furry events must have silly names. We're just obeying international law.
When: January 31st, 2009. 12pm-10pm
Where: Carleton University, Tory Building, Second Floor, 360 Tory and several classrooms around it.
How Much?: $10
What is it? A mini-convention of sorts. We initially thought we could maybe see a 20+ or so attendance but with the recent resurgance in the Ottawa fandom we can likely see a higher number. The 360 Tory theater features a 200 seat theater that we will be showing various furry titles on it's projector. We will be showing Kung Fu Panda in high definition as well as a various other titles. During the entire day the theater will be operating. There will be video games set up for your entertainment, pick up and play arcade style fun. There will be artists and dealers tables set up and some other stuff.
Specifics?
Artists and Dealers: For any artist or dealer your admission and table space will infact be FREE. If you have works for sale, want to sell comissions, do on the fly sketches or just show off your work we'll let you do so. The same goes for anyone with furry merchandise or materials for sale. Ears, tails, comic books you're reselling, what ever, it's all good. For additional information or to sign you, you can email me here:
ashleyashes1983@gmail.com Video Games: Well, what's convention like fun without video games? Personally I'm bringing in the Namco light gun shooter 'Ghoul Panic' which is similar in style to the Point Blank series only it's in 3D and features blue and pink anthropomorphic cats that look somewhat like the VG cats. There are also other video games will set up. If there is anyone that would like to supply the event with a full on Rockband setup, it would be greatly appreciated. You can email me or post in this thread with your offerings.
Theater: Furry classics, what can I say? If you ever can't find something to do there will at least be something showing on the screen for you to enjoy. If you have titles to su
Discussion groups and demonstrations: Nothing is on the books yet but nothing is ruled out either. This is the kind of content that is for the audience to assist with. Discussion groups on particular furry related topics, fursuiters doing demonstrations or games and other stuff like that is what we're looking for. If you have a suggestion blurt it out, we'd love to hear from you.
Want to help? This is the kind of event that is fueled by volenteering resources and time. This is about the fandom working together for fandom events. Televisions, video game systems, cars to assist with materials transportion, ideas or just your time to help with the events. If you can volenteer particularly useful resources (especially transportation) we can see about rewarding you for your efforts. These details will be discussed case by case and in private.
This is also an event that costs money, there is money spent running it but we also hope to turn a profit. Not a personal profit but to get a bank roll to spend on future events, to have prizes and contests and other shiny things. If successful, we will be looking at doing another one in six months time and then another six months and maybe this could even grow into a full fledged convention.
